...and that's a demotion, because Mark Pitts had two executive jobs at major labels,
after his own label folded...to go from that to an artists' manager is huge L.

Marks was one of Puffy's li'l niccas that ate off that affiliation.
So again - seeing as how L.A. Reid is somebody who almost hired Puffy
and is indirectly related to the founding of Bad Boy Records, why would it matter
if L.A. knew Li'l Puffy when he knew actual Puffy?

What are you guys talking about man. Def Jam is a business. It's run like any other corporation. The CEO/president reports to the board or chairman, in this case LA Reid. The CEO/president is the chief executive and runs the company, maximizing value and revenue. When things go well, he reports to the chairman. When things go bad, he reports to the chairman. This is business 101 stuff.

Nas is an artist. He was signed to Def Jam as an artist. He didn't have equity in the company, he wasn't signed with a co-management deal. He was signed as an artist. Meanwhile the CEO/president runs the label's daily operations and decisions. You know, like signing artists, approving budgets, working on marketing, etc. To say Jay-Z, the CEO/president, had nothing to do with any of this is pure ducktales that defies decades of corporate structure and history. If you want to get riled up over the "boss" word who fukking cares man. It's childish. The point is that Jay-Z was running Def Jam, and Nas signed to Def Jam. The only person who reported to LA Reid (the chairman) was Jay Z, the CEO/president. Because that's how corporations work, man.

Brehs here have spent too much time listening to Dame Dash and getting business terms mixed up. Worker, boss, whatever. fukk that. Nas was a prized free agent and signed to a label. As I said, if this is sports...Nas is the player, Hov is the GM, and LA Reid is the owner. There are no disses here or slights. Nas signed a great fukking deal. Hov lasted a couple years at Def Jam before bouncing and doing his own thing.
