Am I the only one feeling like OKC Thunder front office is overrated?

They got to the Finals in 2012. Russ got hurt in 2013, Ibaka got hurt in 2014(still got to WCF), Durant got hurt in 2015 and they missed the playoffs, Durant went 10-31 in a closeout game vs the Warriors or they would've gotten to the Finals in 2016 then Durant left to go join the team he choked away a 3-1 lead to.

Other than 'not get injured', what's the fix for that?
Is you high?

I mean it’s fukking Oklahoma. It’s not like big time free agents are running there :mjlol: they have no choice but try to build through the draft. He’s just doing his job it’s not that deep bruh.

They aren’t overrated in terms of spotting talent. But they are overrated in terms of putting together a championship contending team.

This is accurate.

For sure there were some things out of their control but what's been the number one issue with OKC's teams for the last decade? Lack of shooting. Even this year, that squad was relying on Lu Dort to hit corner threes in the playoffs.

For all the talented players Presti's front office is able to find, they never seem to find shooters.

i think if they make a homerun play next of season they would be ok.. it all comes down to how long the front office hordes picks..

someone mentioned trading shay after next year.. but i think u go for the play next year.. and if u cant get a superstar get a whole bunch of near allsrtars.

What was he supposed to do with those picks? Trade the 14, a mid twenties pick and late twenies pick to move up to what? Like 10? If that? The picks every single person thought or hoped he would trade turned into tatum and brown :manny: boston fans wanted paul george or jimmy butler but he kept em and drafted those two kids.
and let's be honest. He was saving those picks for Anthony Davis only to get curved.

This thread is why basketball discussion on the internet is trash now. Presti has done everything right aside from getting permission from ownership to spend on Harden. But because they couldn’t get over the hump and win a title (mainly due to injury) he’s overrated and can’t build a contender :martin:

And it’ll end up exactly how it did with Paul George
Or chris Paul
They are on a treadmill just like Orlando low key
Don't ever compare OKC to Orlando aka Clusterfukk City. The Magic don't know what they wanna do, but are always under a mandate to compete in the face of mediocrity.

At the end of the day, and given everything we have seen transpire since the team broke apart, I don't even think what I'm saying should be controversial, but it's true: they got as far as they could with that core.

Their Achilles heel then now and maybe in the future, is that their benches have never been impressive and unlike other teams, they can't mask that with ring chasing vets because they're not going to OKC no matter who was there.

Those OKC teams were poorly built around KD and Russ. They over performed routinely because KD is that good and Russ while an incredibly flawed, walking sabotage, was that explosive and talented. The fact they never gave them shooters is a travesty. Their running mate at wing was always some nikka who couldn't shoot besides that one year with Kevin Martin. If you were gonna get rid of Harden, the least you could've done was that. Bench was always ass. Had bums like Kendrick Perkins starting at center too before Adams.

Not gonna put that all on Presti, but as someone who routinely rooted for those Thunder teams, they were never really that good from a coaching or surrounding talent perspective, and they always got injured at the worst times.

All those picks are good for flexibility and whatnot but like breh said until we actually see who they bring in they cant be judged. Picks are literally an option for the future, so we'll have to wait for that future to judge. Having a first round pick in 2026 doesnt mean anything until 2026 or until you trade that pick for a player. Other than that it's just an abstract possibility.

Unlike Hinkie, Presti will actually be a hot candidate if he ever leaves OKC
Given the circumstances he's probably the 2nd best GM behind Ujiri

I didn't even respect Presti until the PG trade :pachaha: this is the first time he's actually acknowledging the team ain't a chip-level team since KD, and is finally moving accordingly
