Its a few hundred dollars a year if you put everything on your credit cards. Its free money.
For 90% of the population its not free money. These companies are smart and they're not in the business of just giving away money. Most people spend 20%-30% more when they buy on credit versus using cash only because when they don't spend paper money they don't feel it as much. That's why McDonald's started accepting credit cards because people spent more money per order when using them.

:snoop:

This is why our people's credit is so fukked up, if something happens and you can't pay off your balance each month you will be buried in debt.

This is ignorant. He said he uses his card for everything. Did you ask him if he pays it back every month? NO.

I should have specified: If you're not an idiot its free money.

It doesn't matter if he pays it back or not, our over reliance on credit cards is what put our country in the shytty financial position it's in as a whole. I haven't had a credit card since I was 23 or 24 and that was a lot of years ago. My credit is golden, I own a home, got approved for a multiple vehicles and everything. All these points and other gimmicks are tricks to get as much of your money tied to credit as possible. I don't need reward points or frequent flyer miles. I take out secured loans that go against the value of my bank account, and ultimately, cash is still king. If I can't buy it cash then I can't afford it as far as I'm concerned and a lot of you young bucks have multiple student loans to pay back, pay those on time and your credit will be fine. You guys put to much faith in credit cards.

I appreciate the 2% in generated interest towards my savings account a year, I get from from taking loans out at my bank that compounds every 5 years that I then contribute to various micro-investments, even more, but that's for the advanced part of the game. You'll learn that as you get older.
