Am I the only person embarrassed about being a descendant of slaves?

Don't misinterpret this being ashamed of being black, I know that black people have a special meaning on this planet and inherently given gifts that others don't. I love being black, despite the struggles it brings some days.

But just knowing that I'm descended from men that just got their manhood stripped and sent to a strange land to work until they die, men that just watched as their wives got raped and bore mulatto children, men that, in some cases, even got tied up and fukked in the ass, men that got tortured for fun, shyt is pretty fukking disheartening:mjcry:

I mean, obviously, revolting would have led to their death and I wouldn't be here, but the shyt makes me fukking cry brehs. Isn't it better to die on your feet than live on your knees?

I'm just posting the thread because that slave master name thread made me do some thinking. I'm also high as hell right now, and when I smoke I get really depressed.

On my AA/Jamaican side its obvious we was slaves. On my Rican side we were slaves (afro latino) and cacs killed off most of the slaves/Taino natives.

Wouldnt say ashamed but it is fukked up to think about a legit genocide on my people from both sides. I take pride in my ancestors surviving and giving me the opportunity to live my life

Cacs tried to enslave us/kill us all and we still out here making moves.

Do you know anything about your ancestors? Do you know anything at all about the slaves?

Did you know that the vast majority of slaves were prisoners of war? They were captured in ethnic warfare in their countries. They didn't have their manhood captured by White people. They were literally captured by Africans in their homelands and sold to White people on the coasts.

And there were lots of slave revolts, but you are just too lazy and/or ignorant to go and research them. Look up the Haitian Revolution; Male Revolt; Stono Rebellion; Nat Turner Rebellion; and hundreds of other little rebellions on and on and on. White people lived in constant fear of slave revolts and they hid it in history and people don't bother looking anything up.

If that were the case then you wouldn't be here...

Rather than being ashamed that your ancestors went through all of these horrible things, you should be proud that they went through them and survived. They literally went through hell but were still able to raise families, support their families and build their own communities after slavery was abolished. It truly is amazing.

Ashamed, no. Aware, yes.

We can talk shyt about if we were there because we were bondage out of bondage and can for the most part read. We have insight. Those who were born into that shyt were none of the wiser. That's all they knew and waited it out.

Note: I didn't say free but out of bondage.

the first big step black americans can take in this country is to literally shed that english last name and take on something african. i know many like the sound of a cool name. there are plenty of cool ones u can choose from in africa, with the help of ancestry.com to help u narrow down what country to pick a name from.

the second big step black americans can take is to seriously focus on inventing things. white people are worshipped in this country because lets face it, they invented a lot of things (or stole from slaves and slapped their names on it). but, the point is, inventions of necessities will go a long way into the world seeing blacks in a whole new light.

and yes the phrase "get your money up" is silly if ur primary way of doing that is through working for "the man". invent, invent, invent - and please dont be yapping about ur ideas on line. there are thieves out there with far more resources than u who will take ur idea and run with it!!!

being a descendant of slave does not have to burden u emotionally. shed that last name, and put urself in a position where the offspring of ur greatgrand father's owners are now calling you boss!
