You're super late wit this bruh..

I feel like black Americans catch on to black things so late that don't come from their own culture. Respectfully...

While the rest of us are in a melting pot.

It’s not that we’re “late” per say (no such concept with us btw), it’s just that we don’t really care much for it or even actively check for it forreal :yeshrug:

Amapiano is cool, I kinda like it more than Afrobeats tbh. But frfr tho, we can simply get the same energy from New Jack Swing and actual House music lol

gonna have to disagree, as an actual music producer the drums here are wildly different across the genres. they can not replicate each other

and being late is just that, america is late to everything not american.

I remember when this song dropped on US radio stations back in 2012, but i heard it 2 years prior when my godfather took me to europe with him

Festivals about to get crazy this year, gonna see if I can go to the amapiano festival in the UK this year.

If we’re late why has everyone been rehashing our stuff since jazz to house to soul to jacking DJ L’s drill beats to everything else. Come on now

I'll give you on the melody side but most definitely not on the drum side

and that's what gives us the grooves is the drums

Worldwide popular music still borrows heavily from black American music. People are still playing our OLD stuff and just putting their language over it. Making variations to break beat and house, jazz , soul, it’s all still evident. The Brit’s try to take credit for the DJ L drill pattern too. I’m not just talking about the diaspora, I’m talking about the Asians as well who didn’t even change the drum patterns. From City Pop to the whole damn Persona 5 soundtrack

We not late to nothing because we provided a significant amount of the blue print. Blacks in general innovate and the others take. We been collaborating since US blacks were letting black Latinos play in their bands(“Manteca”, “Caravan”), beboppers inspiring Bossanova, and showing Fela Kuti jazz.
