Mofos really think the job training amazon was planning was gonna lead to the actual well paying jobs
Amazon was partnering with CUNY to build a pipeline that would lead from graduati g to a job there

And there was going to be thousands of well paying 32BJ union jobs in the campus. The union even supported the deal.

These people are clueless

ATL's problem is zoning not allowing density.

You're wrong.
Density is the devil for cities. This is how you get high property taxes and rent. See San Francisco or Austin. San Fran is surrounded by water they have a reason to be dense. Austin is in the middle of big ass Texas with nothing around it and yet they build for density and the excuse they use is they don't want urban sprawl like Houston. Houston doesn't have zoning and does not build for density. Houston is one of the more affordable if not the most affordable big city due to this.

San Francisco has no land. Austin and Atlanta does.

ZONING is the issue.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
The problem is Amazon was acting like it was a 5 star recruit or a superstar free agent, making cities put to get packages literally begging them to come.

But I look at it like this.

Why would a company that at one point had a $1 TRILLION DOLLAR valuation, need tax credits :dahell:

Most of Amazon's delivery drivers are contractors so they're already saving in payroll taxes and benefits.

NYC is the epicenter for finance, legal, advertising, publishing, journalism and fashion industries etc. and has a very healthy amount of tech, engineering and architecture jobs. I’m missing some industries too. If you can’t find a job there something’s wrong. The problem is affordability. Not jobs.

tech is only around 10% of the city's work force, I've seen the stats

more opportunity and a more diversified workforce would be a good thing

I think the effects were overblown.

Why?

There was NOTHING in seattle before amazon compared to what it is now.

NYC doesn't have that issue. Just like DC/NOVA. Theres stuff already there.

People got scared of gentification without realizing that SOMETIMES people just gotta move!

Everyone migrates.

Theres a reason you were born where you were born and theres a reason some places get re-investment.

We gotta start controlling our own destiny out here man...i'm tired of some of this low brow thinking.

I dont think people mind the moving part, especially non new yorkers.

It's the moving and contributing nothing back to infrastructure and tax dollars part that's the issue.

And to add insult those fakkits will threaten to move If even a word comes about taxing them.

Its greed beyond measure. And I dont blame a city telling them eat a dikk if they don't plan on taking steps to give back to a city in any meaningful way.

Why are you caping for a trillion dollar company to move to a city and pay ZERO tax?:jbhmm:

Why are you caping for a trillion dollar company to raise the cost of living even more in the most unaffordable city?:jbhmm:

Your argument is even worse considered the city is already flush with industry and doesn’t NEED Amazon like a rust belt area would.

Your making ZERO sense bro:patrice:
