If Amazon contributed more to the places that they put their headquarters in, there wouldn't be a big issue. If Amazon decided to start paying student debt,:russ:

Shiiett, I said I would never move anywhere north of NC, but ima throw mine out there just to see if I can get a bite. Being an Amazon engineer does have a nice ring to it.

With a nice relocation package, them selling my house down here, and moving my fiancé and daughter up there, they can get my country ass up there
Nah stay down there. too many out of towners already.

As long as y’all agree to stay away from NC

Too many of y’all down here.

Lol, but on some real shyt, y’all ain’t got to worry about me. I was just messing around. I used to spend some of my summers and winter breaks up there with my aunty as a kid and it’s too cold and busy for me. Great city, though!

For those who think things are going to get crazy expensive in LIC....I don't think it'll make much of a difference :yeshrug:

LIC been crazy expensive for about 15 years now...If you didn't get in in the 90s you were basically shut out.

Only folks to survive live in the PJs...everyone basically been priced out or sold their homes for a mint.

yup that's why i said earlier that NYC and DC would cause the least disruption. amazon wasn't going to raleigh or atlanta and be blamed for the big jump in housing costs like they and others are in seattle. there won't be a noticeable jump in either of these places, they're already expensive.

Where black people live in queens isn’t desirable yuppies/techies types so they should be fine
yeah this move and change in things is unlikely to effect that average black fam in Queens.

Blacks in bulk mostly live way over in Jamaica, Jamaca Estates, Cambria Heights, Laurelton, Hollis etc etc....theyre on the otherside of queens for the most part, and that aint likely to change...anymore than the way downtown BK changed brownsville and ENY

I wonder what the max will be cause apartments in LIc are already over 3K a month but the beauty of LIC is that 3K a month gives you a 5 star hotel like building compared to just a crappy apartment in Manhattan with no amenities.
this is true. I am about to move to LIC next year since i can make a lot more money now in the city and do a shytload less traveling than I can in the south. The extra 2k in rent is easily off set by this convenience and customer base.

Best believe there's a long term plan for Jamaica, Queens as well in terms of gentrification. One of my boys live in St. Albans his father has been getting a lot of offers to sell his house lately. My other boy lives near Roy Wilkins his father has been getting offers for years to sell his house but recently the frequency has been up. He refuses to sell because he wants to leave the house for his sons when he dies. From late last year to where we are in this year there's been 2-3 white families that have moved into his neighborhood. Mind you this is an all-black neighborhood. It's not common to see cacs on the bus for example. My mother has a friend in Laurelton that owns 2 2 family homes that he owns that these Jews have been trying to buy it off of him for 1.7M but he says he can sell them for 2.2M When that new Starbucks popped up on the strip I knew the gentrification process was on. Beware of Starbucks in your hood brehs.

They wont be able to afford the property taxes that rise exponentially.
How would it affect homes that will be anywhere between 12-15 miles away since a majority of black/west indian owned homes are in the eastern part of queens?

Well shyt Jews have been trying to take over laurelton/cambria since I was living there back in the 80s/90s. They have pockets set up near temples (jamaica estates/queens village ) but never really expanded throughout the other blocks on that side of queens.

The most visible demographic change I see in Southeast Queens (which is where most of Queen's black neighborhoods are for those of you who aren't familiar) is more South Asians (likely Guyanese but I'm not sure), and even that's not that noticeable. I rarely see white people in those neighborhoods, and very few Hispanics.

Maybe the Hassidic Jews will expand from Far Rockaway and Five Towns into Rosedale if they haven't already. Regardless, I doubt Amazon's presence will lead to a bunch of white people moving into Southeast Queens, it sounds like they'll be making enough money to live in LIC and the surrounding area.

The other thing is that these neighborhoods are mostly 1-2 family houses (a lot of new 4 families too, though) and owned by African Americans/West Indians, so it's different from a neighborhood that's made up mostly of apartment buildings owned by Hassidic Jews and corporations. Even if white people wanted to move (back) to Rosedale in droves, that would require the black homeowners selling their houses to them.
