The most visible demographic change I see in Southeast Queens (which is where most of Queen's black neighborhoods are for those of you who aren't familiar) is more South Asians (likely Guyanese but I'm not sure), and even that's not that noticeable. I rarely see white people in those neighborhoods, and very few Hispanics.

Maybe the Hassidic Jews will expand from Far Rockaway and Five Towns into Rosedale if they haven't already. Regardless, I doubt Amazon's presence will lead to a bunch of white people moving into Southeast Queens, it sounds like they'll be making enough money to live in LIC and the surrounding area.

The other thing is that these neighborhoods are mostly 1-2 family houses (a lot of new 4 families too, though) and owned by African Americans/West Indians, so it's different from a neighborhood that's made up mostly of apartment buildings owned by Hassidic Jews and corporations. Even if white people wanted to move (back) to Rosedale in droves, that would require the black homeowners selling their houses to them.

Lawrence, Cedarhurst , Woodmere , Hewlett , ,North Woodmere, make up the 5 towns.
Combined I'd say its 70% jews , 20% Spanish, 10% other all minutes away from Rosedale.

Most Black folks who moved away from rosedale usually relocate to Valley Stream/Elmont/Cambria

Well shyt Jews have been trying to take over laurelton/cambria since I was living there back in the 80s/90s. They have pockets set up near temples (jamaica estates/queens village ) but never really expanded throughout the other blocks on that side of queens.
You mean take it back.

Once they solve the transportation issue, it's a wrap. If they can get people back and forth to the city (now LIC) efficiently through mass transit without paying an arm and a leg, SE queens might see an influx of different people. That's probably why they're experimenting with different Lirr fares in the city zone. I dont go over to Jamaica that much anymore, but when I do a consistently see new evidence of the area being gentrified. Shocked the hell outta me to see a starbucks on jamaica Ave proper.

Starbucks in 2018 doesn't mean as much as it used to, it's a very mainstream brand. There's a Starbucks on Flatbush Avenue in Flatlands and I wouldn't call that area gentrified

When you start seeing independent coffee shops and bars, that's more of a sign

Starbucks ain't just a rich white girl thing anymore. Women of all races love those coffee drinks.

I'd agree with you if that Starbucks wasn't across the street from a Chipotle and Panda Express. There are redevelopment projects underway as well. Gentrification isn't some quick process it takes decades. What you see now are the early signs/effects of it.

Doesn't mean anything if the people own their homes. Redevelopment projects where? Vacant lots? We see white people and automatically think someone got pushed out. But that's not always the case.

There's a mixed-use development project on 92-23 168th Street that's underway. It's supposed to be done in 2020.
