You anti-capitalist dudes on this website absolutely kill me using your iPhone and Samsung , Disney Marvel watching Netflix surfing being on Facebook and playing on your Sony PlayStation's ass nikkas.

The site you are on makes money. Deal with it.

This is a fiasco with huge ramifications for future businesses in that region. Rejoice at your own peril. This ain't FoxConn. This is fukking Amazon.

This is terrible for 2020.
Yeah. This is a bad look.

Foxconn was a scam.

This wasn't. Amazon is good for that bread.

I will grant you that amazon shouldn't get tax breaks and should help pay to improve the MTA, but this is a STUPID move by NYC to let them go.

Obama got killed as being an anti-business president despite no actual factual data to back it up now you have concrete data that shows that a multi-billion-dollar corporation moved out of New York because of this Fiasco this is a horrible horrible horrible thing for Democrats in 2020
b-b-b-but they won't hire locals :damn:

:mjlol:

Bruh, they're not hiring randoms straight to 150K jobs. This isn't like welding rivets on the Empire State Building in the 1930s. People will skills will have to compete just like any other time.

I've seen how satelite offices TRANSFORM communities, especially in the South.

NYC lost.

ATL/HOU/CHI/CLT will EASILY take those jobs.

Obama got killed how by being anti-business? If anything, the main complaint is he didn't following through his actual economic populism he preached on the campaign trail.

The fact of the matter is that residents, many who wouldn't even benefit from the Amazon HQ level jobs were about to possibly see their rent prices go up even further, cost of living increase, and also the deal was completely subsidized by tax payers who would not be the beneficiaries of the jobs in the first place. The average income a queens resident is $54k http://www.city-data.com/income/income-Queens-New-York.html while the jobs being proposed by this bill were well above $100k meaning the actual residents of the people who lived there would not be employed by the company to make up all the subsidization they would have to provide for it. If I'm an individual who is already being stressed by market forces like gentrification and increasing real estate prices, I would want this shyt in my neighborhood if there is a high likelihood I wouldn't even be paid enough or be hired by the company to make up for it.

You confuse, accurately highlighting, the increasing wealthy inequality that exists in the United States where corporate profits increase but real wages are stagnant if not decreasing since the 80s with communism and or full blown socialism.

Once again, thinking at the gut level and not beyond it where nuance is typically located.
Sans the tax cuts, who cares?

i mean REALLY.

The economy and types of jobs are evolving.

An insultingly small amount would be hired, assuming they'd even give it any consideration, when factoring the surrounding population and its employment rate. Only neoliberal clowns like you think this is any kind of loss for the black people in NYC.
I've seen how corporations have radically changed cities like ATL/DAL/ATX/CLT/HOU with tons of black people being hired.

Yall are the ones losing.

I work for GE Digital now (General Electric) in Atlanta . We have an Alpharetta office and a Buckhead office.
  • We have many black Engineers and developers in here.
  • The Senior VP who oversees Engineering is black. His name is Chet Guess. Look him up on Linkedin.
  • Some of the Directors who oversee some of the different technologies (Windows, Linux, virtualization, networking, Storage, etc) are black. Well 2 of them are.
Oh.. we're hiring. In case you were wondering

I know it's often a challenge for us blacks to get opportunities but dont let that dissuade you. There are many black people working in these companies and raking in good money.
nah...stop telling these dudes the secrets.

Blacks are EATING in the south right now... ATL/DAL/ATX/CLT/HOU etc

Amazon was getting too much out the deal which is true in terms of tax cuts...but just to forego THOUSANDS of jobs?

NYC brehs LOST.

A lot of yall don't have the skills anyways. Stop lying. Yall don't care about local or black labor. You just wanted to work your way from the mailroom to the board room :francis:

i agree amazon shouldn't get helipads and tax breaks...but theres no downsides for the city.

Hell, i think amazon should have invested in the MTA....but NYC didn't push them further on the initial deal.

It gets to a point where the cons outweigh the pros.

Fine you get 25k jobs that pay 150k

At the cost of sinking a neighborhood of 150k people (I'm pulling numbers out the aether) because they cant afford.

Which has a domino effect of other resources like affordable housing becoming more scarce and EBT becoming more prominent. Transportation gets overwhelmed (same subways and buses the yuppies use).

Hell other business who actually need or want the tax subsidies are shyt outta luck because the state cant grant anymore.

Domino effect

I'm just trying to show the brehs that there are opportunities and to keep digging/looking. too often young Brothers out there convince themselves that these jobs are never given to black people and that working in such environments would be working with a bunch of white boys and no other blacks around.
