How many list do u find Run on as a solo artist that’s away from the group? I don’t think I’ve EVER seen that happen. lol. Melle Mel gets that love as a pioneer especially when it comes to reality rap. He basically started that shyt. Plus he was the main one rapping half the time. And he don’t get put over certain cats on most list either. But like I said he’s a pioneer so he gets measured from a different stick. A lot of artists from that time frame didn’t have fully fleshed out solo careers like that. One person I will give u is Chuck D. Still I rarely find him in objective top 5 all time list rather than personal lists. Still he was a pioneer. They get graded on a certain curve. They was the brick layers of this shyt. But in comparison to cats like Rakim, KRS and LL. They don’t be on lists higher than them. It’s the reason why Cube and even Dre get rated away from NWA. Why Scarface gets rated away from Geto Boys. CeeLo has been a more active artist than Andre 3000. His work with Goodie Mob, within the Dungeon Family, as a solo artist, with Danger Mouse...

The only way you can argue that Andre 3000 is a better artist is if you believe that 3k's OutKast output from 1994 to 2002 is significantly superior and diverse to anything CeeLo has ever put out. Superior... maybe. Diverse... No. The Love Below isn't enough here. Neither is that abortion of a flute album.

And this also applies to comparisons between BigBoi and Andre as well. Regardless of personal preference, the only way you have Andre in a top 5 with Big Boi nowhere closeby is if you believe Andre was so far ahead of his partner across the 4 albums that Big Boi could have been swapped out with Pras

Andre 3000 is 50 years old and has been rapping since he was in his teens. He’s obviously fell out of love with rapping and performing and isn’t inspired to do it anymore. Why can’t he honor that feeling? How many things did you do when you were 16-17 that you’re no longer interested in doing now???I understand the feeling because I was a Dj for 20 years & I’m never djing publicly again.

I honestly find Andre 3000 refreshing. Hip-Hop keeps a lot of people in suspended adolescence or arrested development and he's one of the few rappers who have grown old gracefully and said look, I'm over this shyt, the game has passed me by and I don't want to spend time trying to pretend I'm still young. Just let me play my flute, produce art on my own timing, enjoy my life and when the feeling hits me, I'll drop a verse for a young artist.
