Okay, let's run this down real clear-like.
2004: Obama is chosen as the KEYNOTE speaker at the Democratic National Convention. Not just a regular speaker, he pulled a KEYNOTE. At that moment he's already bigger than Gillum ever has been, and he was still over 4 years from the election when Gillum is less than 2 away.
2004: Obama wins election to the U.S. Senate. Again, a higher post than Gillum's ever had because Gillum lost his race.
2004: Obama's memoir, "Dreams from my Father", is republished. It becomes a bestseller. He had a best-selling book when you talking like no one knew him. And he's still FOUR YEARS away.
2005: Obama's memoir is published as an audiobook, read by him, along with his DNC speech. He WINS A GRAMMY for it, that's how popular he already was. Three years away.
2006: In the U.S. Senate Obama introduces the first legislation sponsored by him that gets signed into law, even though it's during the Bush administration
2006: Obama's second book, "The Audacity of Hope", becomes his 2nd best seller. Note that he is still over 2 years away from the 2008 election, more time than Gillum has now, and not only has he been a U.S. Senator for two years but he's famous enough that books become best-sellers solely because he's the one writing them. How big would a Gillum book be right now?
February 10, 2007: Obama declares his presidential bid.
At this point Obama had one of the most famous political speeches of the decade, two best-selling books, a Grammy, two years in the U.S. Senate, legislation signed into law with his name on it, and a ton of connections in Washington D.C.
Timing-wise, Gillum's two months away from that. Gillum has a failed bid for governor and...?
If Gillum was a big, charismatic, celebrity-like candidate, then maybe he'd have a chance anyway. But he's not, he's an organizer, he needs time to build. Don't set this man up to fail. He's not there yet. Give him time and he could be.
You better explain this "your" shyt in an acceptable way or you got a neg coming.
Breh, running a presidential campaign isn't all about how many "followers" you have. It takes massive work. Trump was able to circumvent some of that work only because he had decades as a world-famous figure, a huge following, and a perfect knack for driving the news cycle.
That ain't something just anyone can do. Gillum ain't no reality show celebrity, he doesn't have enormous numbers of people hanging on his every tweet, the media ain't following him like that. As evil and stupid as Trump is, the one thing he'd done his whole life is create a persona and control his media image. That's how he won.
