Coaches are trying to keep their jobs. No time to develop.
Jobs should be lost regardless. They pounded the table to draft AR, but clearly can’t develop him properly. Going 8-9/9-8 with Old Man Flacco ain’t moving the needle and is the same song and dance the franchise has been on for the past half decade.

This. Basically my entire point

With Flacco you know there's a ceiling and there's a floor. So he's not gonna be bad enough to get you a top pick to actually draft a QB for the future and he's not good enough to win you a SB unless you an elite roster, which the Colts are not even close to having right now.

At least with Richardson, best case scenario, he figures it out and becomes a star. Worst case scenario, he continues to suck and you bottom out and you get a chance to draft your next future QB. Middle case, he's "okay", but at least with that, you can still build on that for the future and hope he still becomes a top line QB or trade him to a team and get some draft capital that you may can package to draft your QB down the line.

I'm just struggling to see the benefit of having Flacco be QB1 for a team like the Colts. If you just want to be respectable but not a serious threat at a ring, then hey, cool I guess.
Go tell that to the Colts lockeroom.

Through 10 starts he's 5-5. You're acting like he's 0-10. It's not tanking by starting him but Flacco will probably win you 2-3 more games.

The point is Flacco is not the future so you need to definitively know what you have in AR.
They have an inaccurate passer who struggles to stay healthy and checks himself out of games because he's winded. Continuing with AR will cause a lockeroom mutiny.

Coaches are trying to keep their jobs. No time to develop.

But you drafted a developmental QB:dead:

This is why you take a guy like that later in the draft. If you take him high then ownership and the GM need to lay out a specific plan with the coach. Sit the guy year 1. Reacess in the off-season and hopefully he's ready to go season 2. If you can't give the coach and QB time then take a pro ready prospect.

Drafting raw talent should only be done when you have an older QB who gives you 2 years of leeway for the kid to develop. AR on the Rams would've made more sense. Milroe needs a similar situation but there's mocks having him go top 5-10.

Some guys are ready to start immediately, some need 2-3 years, some will have to go elsewhere and bounce around until they find the right situation.

Titans took Malik in the 3rd, played him before he was ready, he looked terrible, gave up on him, drafted Levis with basically a 1st in pick 33, traded Malik, and now Malik looks like a starter and Levis might be gone:mjlol:

This shyt reads like the Trey Lance threads when posters were carrying water for that bust. :mjlol:
I’m convinced people don’t really watch these dudes play and just come here to argue on their behalf. Richardson is young and looks awful, there’s nothing wrong with him getting benched

They said the same thing about the locker room in Carolina and after one good game of Dalton they went right back to being trash. Bryce had to start after Dalton had the car accident.

Locker room mutinies are usually overblown because unless you're a veteran under contract a good contract you can't be on the field quitting on plays because you don't like the QB. If AR starts they're going to play. Might be mad but they're going to play.

I guess they were looking for any excuse to bench him since he hasn’t been playing well

I see players sub themselves out of games all the time on both sides of the ball. WRs after running post and go routes. RBs after breaking one for 35 yds.
