I have questions. Especially for those who consider themselves Christian Gnostics. How does this work? Do y'all consider Yahweh or Jehovah to be the Demiurge? If so, how do you pray and who do you pray to (Sophia?)? Is there any point in prayer or is knowledge/ gnosis the only path to "salvation"?

How do the lost books of the Bible fit into the equation?

I have all these theories and have been having what I think are epiphanies regarding the meaning of life but I don't want to lose myself again in a doctrine that leads to nowhere. Gnosticism makes the most sense to me though.

Since we're the only two in this thread, tell me , what is your take? We can share our knowledge and ignorance together haha!

I havent gone that far into it. But I plan to

But as of now, The Demiurge and the Blood thirsty God in the Old Testament being the same makes sense.

Here so reading for you. Hope it helps:

0 - Gnosis Summary

Just as the composition of the human being can be divided into Body, Soul, Mind, and Spirit, so can Creation be divided into Universe, Demiurge, Logos, and Nous.

The physical Universe is just the body of Creation. The soul of Creation is known as the Demiurge, an artificial intelligence responsible for shaping, projecting, and reshaping space, time, matter, and energy. It blindly carries out the commands it’s given, transducing higher metaphysical archetypes and energies into physical manifestations.

If you want to go a little deeper, you can Google Initiation into Hermetics by Franz Bardon. His work seems to be well-known in certain circles. A part of the book is dedicated to him breaking down Body, Spirit and Mind, which could help reinforce anything you learn from the Montalk link. I do not believe Bardon was Gnostic though.

I am all for going down the rabbit hole but there are things that I need to be answered before I even bother with all the effort.

My biggest thing is what is the end game for Gnostic " followers" and how exactly do you get there? I'm good with detaching from carnal desires but also have come to understand that they are not inherently evil- that it is simply the attachment to them that make us miss the mark. But who do you pray to if anyone at all?

What are the step by step instructions?

Define Gnostic for me brehs seriously

I couldn't give you a concise definition of it, but I can kind of explain what it is.

Think of the three traditional religions we have in the West - Christianity, Islam and Judaism. Masses of people follow these religions, and in them, we're taught a lot about gaining redemption through worship of an outside God figure. Think of these as 'mainstream', for lack of a better term. Many people may follow them in name but not in deed.

However, you also have the mystical/occult versions of these religions - Gnosticism, Sufism, and Kabbalah (respectively). These are the ones which seem to get the bad rap, but they are about focusing on changing the person from within (versus looking for a savior without) through steps which can bring about true change and salvation. It seems these are more in line with the idea of man being a god within his own right and working to develop those characteristics and actually merging the spirit with the body (whereas in, say, Christianity, for example, you are kind of given the idea you can't experience anything truly of Spirit until after you die).

I'm all over the place here, but I hope this kind of makes sense for you.
