Them Lo Lifes...
Yea, while in a ideal world I’d get a puppy. I can’t. I’d have to get a dog that’s about 2-3 yes old. But man, the way people act about having dogs these days, it’s like you can’t get one unless your work from home, are a stay at home parent, or are retired. Wtf!? Normal working people wants dogs too :mjcry:
Dogs are pack and order oriented so they thrive off attention. Thats really the issue with dogs and understanding them.

Just being around you will suffice after they get out the puppy stage and no longer needs constant affirmation.

Thats the plus with getting a grown dog.

Yet if you want to get a fully mature dog, I'd suggest a shelter. Those dogs really need homes.

The only issue is not knowing the disposition of the dog.

In your case, I'd make sure the dog is crate trained so you can keep them up to 4 hours confined.

SO if you want to take your dog with you to work, they can chill in the car.

Go walk'em before work on your breaks and lunch, and after work.

That will let your dog know you are close by.

Respect the good & understand the bad
What yall dog nikkaz got to say about Akitas cuz that's tha only breed I want

Fiercely loyal. Not good around strangers or anyone that might be perceived as competition for your attention. My friend's family had one and it's probably the only dog I was lightweight scared of.

As long as you take them out before leaving, and leave them some water/food, you should be good. Just be prepared for all that pent up energy they're going to have when you get home.

If you're worried they might pee, just leave a piece of carpet with some newspaper underneath it.

Is there a specific breed you're looking to get? And are cats an option for you as well?

Never had one but I hear they can be very aggressive. Unless you know how to deal with dogs I wouldn't recommend it.

My female AB is very dog aggressive. She almost snapped my chipoo's neck a few times before I got rid of him. She loves people but can't do other dogs outside of her brother. Aggressive dogs aren't the business.

I would recommend a flirt pole for anyone that has a dog but has limited time to walk them.

Days where I’m too tired from work to walk my dog i just bring the flirt pole to the backyard and tire him out within 10 mins.

I’m good cleaning up dog feces. I walk my loved ones dog while she was away and I didn’t enjoy picking up after him.

Totally depends on the dog. You can crate them during the day but this is really just for small dogs or dogs who are not completely house broken, or those who cant hold their piss the whole day. Some can.
Walk and feed them as soon as you get home from work.
Let them drink their fill in water. Walk them again a couple hours later (like after dinner, right before bed).
Leave full water bowl overnight. Walk them right before you go to work in the morning.
They will be more than hydrated through a work day without a bowl.
You DO NOT HAVE to leave water while you are gone if theyve had access to water the previous 16hrs in the day.

id get deal with the growing pains of a puppy, at least then you could shape your dog into the personality you want it to be.

miniature or standard schnauzer, manchester terrier, brittany, german pinscher

nah, just adopted out the cat i was taking care of. i like cats and might have one if i had a bigger place, but i'm hella OCD and cats give zero fukks about where you do or don't want them. like my parents dog will never jump on my couch unless she sees me put her bed or blanket on it, cats are like "i own all this shyt, you're lucky i let you use it"...so the fur and having to deal with the litter box bugs me. if i had a house where i had someplace more out the way for a litter box, i might get one again
