For those who have to leave your dog all day for typical 8-4 or 9-5/6 work hours

what do you do with your dog during the workday?

Y’all have a walker or send them to doggie daycare?

I really want a dog and was about to get one since I worked in a dog friendly building, but our new office doesn’t allow dogs

Respect the good & understand the bad
Just keep them in the house with some water, it'll be fine. We got a dog door, but are crate training our new puppy right now.

Prior to installing the dog door we've always kept them inside during the work day. They had free run of the house, but you could also just block them off in a selected area too and just leave some bedding for them.

I do. I walk him to the park and let him run around and do whatever. Feed him when i get home and he’s straight after that. It’s really easy to just leave them by themselves for long period of times when they’re not a puppy anymore.

Although i am thinking of getting Wag. Feel kinda bad leaving him in the cage for that long

Them Lo Lifes...
Depends on the breed and your living situation.

BUT

If you dont have the time to spend early on with your dog...dont get one.

The dog will suffer.

If you get a puppy-thats crate and obedience training, house breaking, chewing.

Will you have the time to spend with your dog to do these things?

Then if you have a 9-5, you are paying someone to watch the dog most of the day.

Then you personally have to spend bonding time with said dog, walk and play with the dog.

After work, thats only like 4-5 hours of personal time 2 you have to spend with your new pup.

I do , your best bet would be to adopt a dog that's 1 yr or older if you get a puppy and aren't able to spend the first few months with him it's gonna be tough as far as behavior goes

Other than that mine just chills and sleeps during the day (I have security cams ) winters are tough since I can't take him on long walks but he does have access to a yard when I'm home

I have a pitbull but as far as breeds go any of the larger breeds (Mastiffs, rottweiler, cane corso etc) are ideal in your situation since there low energy anyways

Yea, while in a ideal world I’d get a puppy. I can’t. I’d have to get a dog that’s about 2-3 yes old. But man, the way people act about having dogs these days, it’s like you can’t get one unless your work from home, are a stay at home parent, or are retired. Wtf!? Normal working people wants dogs too :mjcry:
