Nah! I love my parents, I swear! My mama had the smart idea of setting up college funds and savings for my siblings and I for when we became older (SO to my mama). My dad agreed. So, every month they would put a side a good portion of their earnings into our funds. Now, my siblings and I pretty much have had a free ride to college and some dough on the side for us to spend on whatever we want. I can't complain God has blessed me with great and hard working parents. Things could'hv been worse.

East African parents are usually really lax on college and further education in my experience. At least compared to West African parents. What has been your experience, specifically in Toronto?

My mother set me up with some funds when I needed help with grad school tuition but I honestly feel that shyt happens. They might've saved up, and they had to use it for a car payment, rent, the mortgage etc. Dont be judgmental cause there's always uncertainty in life. I also feel that after a certain point you should be supporting your parents.

Plus if you get good enough grades you won't need mom and dads help. Parents struggle to raise children, especially in this harsh world that hates us. I don't think it's right to be pointing the finger at them like its so easy. shyt happens in life. Like you said, if they taught you values and you grew well adjusted what more can you ask for? Not everybody can afford to have a will set up, properties, wealth for their children. Life is expensive as fukk these days. That's why you gotta hustle and not wait on nobody.

Nah, I actually have a great relationship with my parents. The only time I feel some animosity towards them is when the topic of marriage comes up.

Me: I don't know mom

Mom: let me try and find you a nice woman again

Mom: Alfred, you're 27 now you really need to think about a wife and kids

It's taboo to talk about it but damn, my parents ain't plan or nothing.

Everything I do I do without help which is fine but sucks some parents hooked their kids up.

The cold hard truth is if your parents didn't plan for you, you're pretty much fukked if you don't make it yourself.

I love my mom and dad but a lot of the shyt I'm going through now could've been avoided.
