I wish my mother didn't send me to the the high school she sent me to. I also wish I moved with my father for high school. I don't think that's resentment though.

Exact same here..
But moms sent me to a military boarding school three states away (and I wasn't a bad kid) and it seriously altered my life living with a building full of delinquent cac teenagers..

I actually tried to in with my pops when I was 14 and he said no.. (I think he liked the single life)

Him saying no really ended up screwing me over now that I look back at it as I didn't come out of that boarding school thee same person that went in

Yes. I have major resentment towards my parents.

My mother and father (never married) both have major gambling issues. Them paychecks came and went fast growing up. My parents never taught me how to properly use money or do simple things like pay bills. Like OP talked about, there was no planning for me to succeed. I know its easy for people to be like "you should just get over it and grow up"...at a certain point I feel like its okay to realize that its not just your own failures. Your parents play a huge part in your development. It's no coincidence that you could draw a line between the succeed achieved between my friends with good parents and those of us with bad parents/single parent households. It's like a definitive line.

Personally, once I realized that it wasn't all just me, I finally started distancing my self from my parents and doing for myself in a real fulfilling way. Unfortunately, I was well into my 20's before I realized this stuff. It's a strange feeling when you feel like you don't have a real support system behind you.

No real resentment from me. But if that's how you feel then :manny:

I've always said you can love your parents but still not like them :manny:

well if you from the hood, then you know our people are thrown with more bullshyt our way, that prevents our folks from correctly situating their family.

If my folks were making 6 figures than yea, I guess I would expect them to hold it down for the kids, the reality of the situation is much more bleeker tho.

im grateful my parents busted their ass to just keep a roof over our heads,

I cant imagine being aggy cause they aint set up a trust fund for me or help me get a job or something :mjlol:
Says a lot about these so-called.....nah, lemme stop before folks get angry. :sas2:

Enjoy yall weekend :pachaha:

It's taboo to talk about it but damn, my parents ain't plan or nothing.

Everything I do I do without help which is fine but sucks some parents hooked their kids up.

The cold hard truth is if your parents didn't plan for you, you're pretty much fukked if you don't make it yourself.

I love my mom and dad but a lot of the shyt I'm going through now could've been avoided.

I mean we know our racial scenario already. Ain't no 2nd generation wealth. The proper handling of money is not something that's echoed amoungst us or in our homes. We buy what we want and scramble for what we need. So if you're black anything you really want you gotta go out and get that shyt.
