Anybody else feel resentment towards their parents?

Some of the responses are the reason why the Black Community won't get very far. We think thinking ahead and building for the future is "White People Stuff." All groups do this except us. Hell, even Mexicans around my way are surpassing Black people in entrepreneurship.

I grew up with mostly White and Asian kids and they weren't "trust fund babies" per se, but they made sure their kids didn't have to struggle for sh_t. All we're saying is that your job as the parent is to make sure your kids didn't have to suffer and struggle as much as you did. Now how you guys go to the "entitlement" argument, I don't know. Some of you have loser mentalities that will get you nowhere.

empower yourself first thru economics, so you can improve your quality of life and teach your kids to strive for that

the fact that economic self-reliance is a controversial issue among BLACK folks shows how many self-hating c00ns we got..

its sad cause most black parents train their children to become servants to white society, and treat other black folks as competition

Kids who grow up around other kids whose parents are actually good realize just how far they've been left behind.
Coming from my working class neighborhood, I hadn't realized that my parents did far more for me than my peers' parents did for them until we actually talked about it.

I remember studying Business in school and I thought I knew about money until I went to college and these muthatruckers knew about stocks, bonds, property management, etc. My parents didn't even teach me how to keep a bank account. I had to learn a lot of sh_t the hard way on my own and I'm paying for the price for what they didn't prepare me for and the thing is that it's PREVENTABLE.

The problem is, especially in American culture, people think their parenting days end once your kid turns 18. At 18, you don't know sh_t about life and how it works yet.

I only had one parent when it mattered, and she has told me several times that she never planned on having kids (she was the oldest of five) and once told me that she felt her job as a parent ended the day I got my high school diploma (she has since realized how dumb this statement was. I hope).

Somehow, my older brother and I are still on the earth.

She never had much, and she downplays her abilities as a parent, and I've been through some shyt ... but it could have been worse.

If anything, my mom (and dad via his absence) gave me a blueprint on parenting. Which is basically to just ... do it better than they did. And even when I do, I still won't be perfect in my eyes, so.

Everything I do I do without help which is fine but sucks some parents hooked their kids up.

The cold hard truth is if your parents didn't plan for you, you're pretty much fukked if you don't make it yourself.

so her parents raised her well enough that she has the oppourtunity to continue her education
shes got internet access to complain on the coli
shes got a cellphone to talk to her parents
she goes out and enjoys a social life

run the streets all day every day.

I'm "resentful" that generational wealth - which is the most important goal for a family in my opinion - is not rightly worked upon, but I'm not resentful of my parents because they struggled...

A perfect example is here...instead of being grateful to your people for what they did and trying to take steps to figure out what you need to do yourself to reach whatever potential you're capable of, nah let's find reasons to cry and blame everyone else for my situation.

Getting to where you feel you need to be in life is a mentality, and that mentality is; I'm about to get it no matter what now let me figure out what steps I need to take and the best path forward, not "why wasn't it handed to me" or why wasn't it made easier. Which like I said before, is most likely the reason your in the position that your in where failure and negative energy like this clouds you like this.

Then another topic in and of itself is down talking your peoples on a fukkin Internet forum with strangers that's bytch shyt it ive ever seen it
