East coast dikk riding. Doesnt mean much actually. none of them ratings do
Thread title is a lil exaggerated. It ain't whack but I'd be lying if I didn't say that I agreed with it being put on this untouched pedestal it seems to be on. For an album so heralded, it sounds hella dated compared to The Infamous, OBFCL and numerous west coast releases.

No shyt that music can sale over time.You didn't prove anything, you're just being thick headed. The point @JayBaldacci and @SirBiatch made was that classic music sells over a prolonged period of time and they are absolutely right about that. That standard applies to every genre of music, not just rap.
From the Beatles to bob marley, from Beethoven to pink floyd, to jay and to nas. They've all made music that continues to sell decades after they were released. Cant say the same thing about bone thugs

etc all sold more over time,but they also were impactful during their initial release.
Illmatic was a flop but kept getting talked up in the media (not by the general public). And that's fine. But when i only see that done for east coast albums around that era,then I have to look at it as east coast bias propaganda vs regular journalism.
It's pretty simple. People can SAY sales dont matter but i'm not the one making them matter,they are.
How are they doing this,well if you notice,no album from any other region can do as poorly as illmatic/OB4CL yet keep getting talked up as some big event that happened.
Now if there were low selling albums from sout or west getting the same praise for their artistic greatness,i'd fall back.
