focused meditation can increase elasticity in the brain, it can also increase overall brain functionality.

so will healthy eating, lowering you stress levels, drinking half your body weight in water (ozs), and getting a little exercise on a consistent basis. all of these things will increase the functionality of the brain.

so for more permanent results let us try these things first, yes?

when it comes to self improvement, short-cuts are always short-lived.

I tried the AlphaBrain Rogan sells. It was good and I noticed I remembered things better but nothing like HOLY shyt!!! Then again I didn't track my brain like OP so that's probably why my results weren't as evident. I don't like repeating what Joe says cause it's like "who the fukk is joe rogan" but he did say something interesting. He said before you start spending money on brain pills make sure your not living like a piece of shyt. Your money would be better spent on proper nutrition, some multi-vitamins, all that stuff cause if your not in good shape your brain probably can improve just by fixing those things. I've quit drinking/smoking weed and have started exercising and eating better. I've noticed huge changes in my brain and the way I feel. I just started so I still have some anger issues I'm resovling so I'm sorry if I've come off like a dikk on here to anyone.

Anyway before trying any of that stuff make sure your body is eating right and sleeping right. Also exercise and you'll be amazed at how much better your body and brain function

My bad if any of that was off topic.

Thanks OP for the links and thanks to whoever posted the Internet addiction link. I really need to cut back :snoop: This stuff is really interesting so I look forward to seeing if any of you guys make mental gains like the threadstarter

Does this help someones focus too? I've been using adderall for a minute. shyt makes me feel like I ripped a bunch of lines of some fire yay but instead of wanting to go out and party, I want to focus and get shyt accomplished.

:yeshrug:

Some people have tried to find "stacks" (combinations of over the counter nootropics/vitamins/wtc.) to replace adderall with some good effects.

Truth be told, this is the best thing to do.

Here's a little science-based "shortcut" device for meditation though:
emWave2

Pretty much trains your brain to be wired with the likes of a meditation practioner who has been going strong for 40 years, in a matter of weeks of usage.

I am in no way affiliated with that website, or any of the stuff I'm linking in this thread.

I want to be smarter

Someone tells me they can give me something to make me smarter

I take it, wanting it to work

Afterwards, i suddenly feel smarter

They gave me a sugar pill.

Nootropics encompass a wide range of drugs and biochemical action mechanisms. to imply all research on their effects and usage is either pharmaceutical company tricking or the placebo effect is a level of conspiracy theory stupidity you shouldnt engage in, friend.

About to hit the gym, here's some more reading on this stuff with people's experiences from multiple forum threads:
Two Years Of Nootropic Trials - Brain Health - LONGECITY
Boost IQ Stack - Nootropic Stacks - LONGECITY
Reflections from a Med Student - Nootropic Stacks - LONGECITY

Here's a website from a biohacker that spoke at SXSW2012, CES, been on CNN, Forbes, etc.:
The Bulletproof Executive
Watch the video at the very bottom of that site first.

Again, I'm not affiliated with any of these sites, just trying to inform my coli brehs.

You're conjuring demons now friend. I think you should apologize or this curse will linger among friends until it has run its demonic course. We should all avoid becoming possessed by the demon Victor Von Trash like you are in this post here, friend.

I came across this vid awhile ago.

The Neuroscience of Internet Addiction - YouTube

I've cut back on my net usage recently too. I've felt more refreshed lately.
See the problem is I took a few hybrid and online courses this semester. So I'm constantly on the web. There's like no break. Can't wait til this semester is over. It's just too much information, that I don't spend enough applying or reinforcing. At times I feel brain dead, despite having tons of information at my disposal.....

It's actually right in the ball park. I commonly link clear thinking with proper nutrition, especially since there are chemical additives in food which set off the pleasure unit in the brain.

You know what, all you may need is a simple b-vitamin complex on top of the advice the other posters have given.
will look more into this......

I will cosign LeyeT on the meditation front though. I started this semester as part of my martial arts practice and i now view it as pretty much essential; i also get better sleep if I do some before bed. Sometimes you just need some quiet and i find i work better if i slowly shut down and begin my days

How can I forget. Leyet's and kool g trap's post reminded me, but you and badvillain need to look up "mindfulness meditation." I've heard it does wonders for focus.

But also peep that emwave2 link I posted.
