I pretty much checked out on this rap shyt after 2012, but there’s a few new artists that I’ll listen to.

The early 2000’s up until 2010 is my sweet spot. I’m constantly listening to older TI, Jeezy, UGK, Ball & G, OutKast, Houston, New Orleans, and Memphis mursic. Krit is a favorite of mine, and might be my cutoff when it comes to newer stuff, but he’s been around since the late 2000’s.

They say that by the time you turn 25, the type of music you listen to by then will define your taste in music for the rest of your life. Dont know how true is that in general

i was heavy into music before i even started school, so naw, i never had an era bias.

im more of a historian. in particular, i luv music from the '60s thru the '00s.

the '00s was very much hit-or-miss. and mind you, i was in high school when it started going downhill, so i dont want to hear no era bias bullchit.

and the past 10 or so years have been trash overall. nothing to do with bias. chit is just watered-down gahbage in general. and these so-called industry-appointed exceptions are just as wack as their remedial counterparts. just different types of wack.

Should try venturing into other genres, there’s a too much great music today. For example just skim through all the highly rated albums of the past years, no matter genre. You might find a lot of shyt that you didn’t know you fukked with.

there’s a lot of great underground hiphop of course, but if you widen your search you might find a lot of great things. Of course like a computer it will also take more of your time

I'm 27 and I listen to music from every era. I could go from listening to Redman to Gunna to Lupe back to Lil Gotit. But Music from 2010-1013 resonates with me the most cause I have alot of great memories from that time.

I've tried to keep it current as a 31 year old while still listening to the era I grew up in. It has meant though that I've listened to less newer rappers in general but there's always good rappers out there - old and new. Can't really say I'm stuck on an era - good music is good music.

(that's an old pic)

edit: but nah, I'm a musical omnivore. I listen to everything except gospel and polka.

The problem is that most of these people are looking for new music that reminds them of their favorite artist

they can’t appreciate the greatness of other music cause there constantly trying to see if it measures up
