I think this current crop of rappers are far more talented overall than those from the "In My white Tee", "This is why I'm Hot", "Oh I Think They Like Me" era. Everyone is hungry and truly wants to leave their mark on the legacy of hip hop. Sure we still had great albums from the likes of Jay-Z, Nas, and Outkast, but the quantity and quality is better overall right now. Also the diversity. I don't think someone like Drake or Chance The Rapper could've made the splash they're making now back then.
Diversity??:heh::russ::bryan: nikka there was much more diversity in 03/04/05 than now.

Alotta nikkaz now sound the same. them and kendrick are the only cats who bring something different to the table if you ask me. And even drakes music heavily drew off Kanye's 808&Heartbreaks album without the auto-tune. Its almost as if he based his career off that album.

But yeah Hip hop is better than it was maybe 3-5 years ago :ld:

LOL RnB is in the worst shape.

This dude really said Jazz and House :deadmanny:

What Indie Rock is better than old Radiohead?

Yall dudes lost. Either you listen to old music or you listen to new rap. New anything else is just the old stuff but worse.

Strictly Old Reggae, Old R&B and if i do listen to hip-hop it's either sirius xm backspin or shade 45 sometimes
Ive been trying to get into Regaee lately but the person I can listen to on the regular is Bob Marley, Peter Tosh aint bad either tho.
Got some other suggestions, preferably the old school stuff :ld:

yeah R&B is even worse than Hip-hop right now. Atleast hip hop has gotten a lil bit better with Kendrick and J cole IMO at least improved from his last album.

R&B is just wack period. And it aint like rap where if you go on the internet you can find some shyt thats buzzing that you might like.

With Most r&b it's mainly just regulated to the radio and what I've been hearing on the radio while driving is :trash:

My Pops Forever RIP
These youngins out here LOVE a lot of the rappers this forum can't stand.

I think there's a boredom in music. Miley Cyrus doing what she did would have been 10x bigger 10-15 years ago. The industry is jaded and it's waiting for a Ricky Martin at the Grammys moment let alone a Nirvana moment, where one event changes everything. That's why this forum clings onto Kendrick Lamar's Control verse so much. We're dying for that shyt to change how everything works. The reality is that by the end of the year, nothing will really change. Until then, everyone will be bored, these youngins will like something else and we're gonna be mad.

It's never gonna be the same again. Once you come to grips with this, you'll deal with the current state of music a little better.

and this.

let it go, fellas. adapt and evolve. Stop trying to force yourselves to find and like something amid all the stuff you feel is trash anyway. You don't like the rap music given to you, then dont take it.

find the kind of stuff you like on your own.

The problem is the attention span of the consumer and how fast artists are dropping music

its way to diluted than it used to be

This was an historic summer in hip hop history.. For the first time in hip hop history there was no summer anthem
