I think Sunny was saying how Vince immediately had a black eye after Bret hit him and it usually takes a few hours for a black eye to show after the trauma to the area. :mjpls:

The dungeon teaches you all kinds of things breh. Including delivering a punch so powerful it leaves a mark upon impact. :leostare:

I just watched the match again....for some reason I think it was kind of a work. But in some ways I don't think it was.

On one hand, it all came off too perfectly, from the cameras capturing literally everything except for the actual "punch" to Vince. If they showed that, then I might believe it was 100% real. The multiple audio feeds that exist. Even the spit on Vince was just too perfect...lol Then immediately this causes Vince becomes the heel of all heels, Michaels in right behind him in the hate category....which of course set's up Austin to beat up both of them and be the biggest face ever. Vince being out at ringside, etc with the "security" of Sgt Slaughter, Brisco, etc :comeon: If he was really concernd about a potential issue of Bret assaulting someone, he'd have had real authorities on standby.

But....

.....on the flip side, looking at how Bret's life and career went down after that you have to wonder if it was real. And the WWE was really in the hole at that time, so even if Bret won the belt and DID NOT take it on Nitro to trash it (as Vince supposedly feared), it still would have made the E look kinda weak to have him forfeit the belt the following night. Although Bret did later say he would have agreed to drop the belt the next night on RAW, but Vince didnt want that. Maybe Vince didnt trust him to show up. Who knows.

We'll never truly know because if it was even a semi-work those guys will take it to the grave with them

I NEVER SIDED WITH BRET THE VANILLA MIDGET HART ON THIS ISSUE, BROTHER! HE WAS A MARK FOR THE BELT, A MARK FOR CANADA, AND A MARK FOR HIMSELF, DUDE! HE WAS QUITTING THE COMPANY THAT MADE HIM A HOUSEHOLD NAME SO HE COULD GO FLOUNDER IN THE MIDCARD UNDERNEATH THE VERY SAME MAN WHO WAS HOLDING ALL THE WWF'S VANILLA MIDGETS BACK BEFORE HE LEFT TO HOLD WCW'S VANILLA MIDGETS BACK, MEAN GENE! YES I DID THAT, BROTHER! AND HART KNEW THE HULKSTER'S STEEZ, JACK!

AND THIS TYPE OF SHOOT FINISH HAPPENED ALL THE TIME IN OLD SCHOOL WRESTLING, BROTHER! THAT'S WHY WRESTLERS LIKE SAMMARTINO WERE LEGIT TOUGH GUYS, DUDE! IF THAT 90 POUND WEAKLING SHAWN dikkINBOTTOM TRIED TO SHOOT A PIN ON BRUNO, OR KILLER, OR A YOUNG TERRY BOLLEA, HIS KNEECAPS WOULD GO MISSING, CHAMP!

BUT WHAT DID BRET DO? HE ATTACKED THE PROMOTER, AN ELDERLY MAN, AND THEN WENT TO WCW TO GET CONSISTENTLY PUNKED BY HOLLYWOOD AND THE KLIQ, MEAN GENE! WHAT A bytch, BROTHER!

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a work, all of the elements were in place for it to be

For a secret that deep though you'd need all individuals involved to be 100% committed to the business and that's exactly what you had here. You couldn't run this with some guys who'd leave the biz and start telling everything years later. I think Shawn, Bret, and Triple H love the business as a whole enough to take a work to their graves. That's the only reason why I buy the idea of it.

Bret was going to get his money, why not set Vince up so he can make some too on the way out?

It's fun to speculate with conspiracy theories but to me it makes perfect sense that it's real.

Most wrestlers would've just jobbed on the way out but Bret was ultra protective of his character. That 30 days reasonable creative control thing gave him some power to fight back.

They were still knee deep in shyt at that point, with WCW whooping them. Makes sense that Vince would be ultra paranoid about WCW pulling a fast one and would pull desperation moves to avoid it from happening.

Thing is, you can say what you want about Bret, I believe him 100% when he says he would've never taken the title to WCW and turned his back on Vince,

Where many murders occur
This rumor started way back in 1999. On the Mancow radio show, Mancow str8 up axed Bret if the MSJ was a work, and if Bret was a mole sent by Vince to destroy WCW. Bret said "That is not a question I can answer at this time". Then he axed him if he was still employed by Vince, and Bret said something cryptic to the effect of "My relationship with his company is in good standing."

At this, Mancow, Turd and Freak all got excited like little boys, and Bret then had to hang up. They were all "So it was fake all along! Wow!". Then they had to go to commercial, and they never mentioned it again.

But, when Bret said all that, it sounded like it was just wishful thinking on his part. You can tell by his tone that he wished that he was just a mole, so he played along with them cats, just for fun.

What the WWF should do now, is start a kayfabe angle where Bret tells the Universe that the MSJ was indeed a work, and he was indeed a mole and he accomplished his mission in destroying WCW. Vince would come out with him and vouch, and the 2 would laugh at WCW, and their masterwork which did it in. Then you hear the Wolfpack howl, and Big Sexy comes out, furious because he worked hard to keep WCW afloat, only for Bret to be destroying it from the inside. And this leads to a Nash/Booker vs Vince/Bret feud.

That's why I think it was a semi-work....meaning that maybe Vince, Bret, HBK, and maybe 1 or 2 very trusted others were in on it, and everyone else who "was in on it" was never told the complete truth.

It may have been a one sided work that only Vince HBK HHH and a selected few were in on. But there is no way that Bret could be involved or he was the biggest loser of the whole thing. He went to WCW and got paid but he never was huge there, and he got injured and had to retire working there. Meanwhile Vince got the attitude era and turned into the biggest heel in wrestling. And HHH came up to. From a lackey to a main eventer in record time. So I can see why the thread starter would think it was a work but I think it was legit and no way Bret was a part of it.
