I love looking at them too, because it shows me that just because it costs a lot doesn't mean it's good. Seriously a lot of those million dollar homes are tacky as fukk.:russ:

ya some can be...in some instances tho ppl are just paying for the location then they’ll knock the house down and build one to their liking

I was looking @ some beachfront property (now a pipe dream :() and a lot of the houses had severely outdated structures/interiors but were expensive as hell due to the location...but I seen a couple occasions where houses I was looking @ got completely tore down and new homes were built by the new landowners

I check out lofts and unique Art Deco style buildings. If I can find a dream place under 500k I’ll snap it up but that’s I’m possible lol. I smashed this pawg on tinder the other day and her parents bought her a two floor loft. I looked up prices the next day and the cheapest unit is 700k lol.

$400,000 barely gets you started in what way? What area do you live in where you gotta spend $500,000 to build a house?

My dream house won't have as many finishes as your typical house. I'd even go as far as using recycled material.

Building your own home is always way more expensive because you don't get the savings of tract home. Tract homes mostly share the same bulk building materials, design and construction crews, thus they tend to be much cheaper. Tract homes can be built for $50 - $100+ a square foot depending on materials. A custom home will typically start in the range of $150 - $200+ with basic materials. I was going through this when I purchased a few years ago. Needless to say, I went with the new, pre-built option. You may come out cheaper purchasing a pre-built home that meets most of your needs and just throwing money at the things you want to change.
