Anyone else notice Amerie gave Beyoncé a style to run with?

No nikka. Amerie’s album was out first and the producer of Crazy In Love was Amerie’s main producer.

Crazy In Love was done by Amerie’s producer. Amerie is a DC native. Rich Hamilton is a DC native. The sound is a DC go go influenced sound. Beyonce is from Texas. Who is the only person in this picture that doesnt fit?

I know Amerie’s first album dropped first. But the only songs they have that sounded similar were Crazy in Love and One Thing. Crazy in Love dropped first which was my whole point

Watching that video the sound she had. You can't have all your songs sounding the same though. She should have had more versatility. Done different things. Her label screwed her though. Wanted to give this one thing to J lo. Would have made them more money, but she released it before they could.
I think the combination of people taking her sound, which was her producers sound, her having only that one sound, difficulties with the label, and sabotage from bigger female artists did her in. Shes another kerry Hilson

Rappers go through this all the time, and the great ones survive it and stay in the mix.

U obviously only really know Amerie from 1 Thing which is on her SOPHOMORE album. She already dropped a classic with her first album that influenced Beyonce’s first album which is her best album as well.

No nikka. I know her from her first album and in her first album she made it apparent that she couldn’t sing. Why don’t we fall in Love was garbage. In fact, I remember hearing it when it dropped while I was in high school and remarking at that time that her voice sounded like a joke.

I grew up in the birthplace of gospel music. So I know good vocals when I hear them. Amerie ain’t it.

And it’s comedy how hard y’all are defending her. She’s another Alicia Keys. Only she doesn’t have musical talent or songwriting abilities to carry her along.

I still listen to Amerie. She had an Aaliyah/Mary J. Blige vibe where she was just singing over jazzy hip hop beats. Like even though she was a female a dude could still listen to her music.
