Anyone else notice Amerie gave Beyoncé a style to run with?

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
No nikka. I know her from her first album and in her first album she made it apparent that she couldn’t sing. Why don’t we fall in Love was garbage. In fact, I remember hearing it when it dropped while I was in high school and remarking at that time that her voice sounded like a joke.

I grew up in the birthplace of gospel music. So I know good vocals when I hear them. Amerie ain’t it.

And it’s comedy how hard y’all are defending her. She’s another Alicia Keys. Only she doesn’t have musical talent or songwriting abilities to carry her along.
No. Ur taste in music is garbage. And I dont give a fukk where u grew up nikka. Alotta people that grew up in the church mistake strong vocals with good vocals. Thinking that’s the ONLY way people should sing. Could Amerie BLOW? Prolly not. But she could sing. nikkas like u prolly listen to Anita Baker and Sade with a frown on ya face. Prolly dont fukk wit no Janet Jackson. Get this clown shyt the fukk outta here.

How? Can ya'll give me some examples? I barely even remember Amerie.

Btw I'm not a Beyhuve fan but some of ya'll severely underestimate Beyonce's talent, hard work and ability to brand herself.

She's an excellent dancer and performer. Uses every part of her body, has a pretty good voice and great breath control during her performances. SHes not the best dancer or singer, but she is the best in the game that can do both.
She's a generational force.

It’s psychological, we love black excellence until it becomes to excellent, then we have to start tearing it down.

It’s the reason nikkas was ripping apart Jay-z just to big up nipsey hustle, when in reality they were real cool and nipsey was following his footsteps. They love you when you rising but to the top, but once you sit above the rest nikkas spite you and find every reason to discredit you.

I’m not even a Beyoncé fan, but bro, don’t play yourself. Amerie can’t sing. At all.

“Just one thing” was a nice tune when it dropped, I’ll admit that.

But Amerie has never been anything but “a pretty face with a thin voice that benefited greatly from slick production”. Slick production is exactly what “Just one thing” was.

Her style that people claim Beyoncé bit wasn’t her style. It was her producers. And her producer did a hell of a job making her sound tolerable over her tracks.

the problem is everything you just said is bullshyt :gucci:

"one thing" came after her massively popular song FALL IN LOVE which shot to #1 on the charts

gotta remember, she was an urban R&B artist, beyonce is a pop singer, she was molded to cross over...white people had, and still have no idea who amerie even is.

also, as the documentary pointed out - everybody around that time used her sound. You can't eat if everybody is pulling food off your plate :francis:

Beyonce's not all that great of a singer.I'm not talking on the technical side...You know breathing, structure, projections and

all that ol minutiae bullshyt. While she's technically efficient, I think her emotional style is bland.Everything seems calculated

with Bey.The "soul" feels manufactured.Personally, I don't find any connectivity in her music. The grit's not there.I'd rather listen

to Mary J, Fantasia, or even Keyshia Cole. While they might not be "technically" better than Bey, she can't express how they express

it.She can physically out perform them, tho.She has that

Old news.

They were both on Columbia Records. All I Have dropped first w/ a fraction of the promotion and budget of Crazy In Love. Beyonce had multiple producers and guest appearances for CIL, Amerie had NO features and ONE producer for her entire album.

After All I Have dropped, Columbia put out TWO Beyonce albums before putting out Amerie's 2nd album.

It's more a Columbia Records thing...
