My problems today with games is that they are too easy and short, it used to take me months to beat games, and get past certain stages, now I damn near have to force myself to cut off new games and pace myself, after only a couple hours of playing because of fears I will end the game in the same day

These huge publishers want to keep games formulaic because they have to cater to shareholders and to ensure things are as profitable as possible. That's why you also see all this DLC and this 'subscription passes' model.

If you want to start seeing more creativity, you might have to see what is popping up in the indies and browse what games are being 'kickstarted'.

This. Big business (the mentality, not the legendary poster) typically ruins everything. See: Hip-Hop and the film industry. Once the REAL money starts being made, the craft becomes an after-thought

:heh:

Plane missions made me banish SA to the bottom of my collections for months, then fukk around and came back to it and beat it on my first try months later after the hate left my system:win:

Games these days be bullshyt man, back in the day they used to have long drawn out stories, and actions, for instance a SNES game like Illusion of Gaia I could go back play it on a rom and still have weeks of fun and fail the same head scratching puzzles I did as a child, because they made shyt a little complicated, shyt that made you have to think.

Nowadays we stuck watching cinemas and shyt when all you want to do is bust your gun, if I wanted to watch tv I would, shyt in Uncharted 3 I damn near was watching cinemas for hours and shyt, I only have limited time to plays and such cause of work these days, shyt is:mindblown:

Bosses be easy as fukk too I play Infamous 2 runing from the beast all that time, doing a million bs mission making sure I was strong enough to beat him then when we finally lock up, I'm like :dahell:, I'm fukking son up. Back in the day you'll neer beat the boss on the first try, I still get pissed off thinking about M Bison cheesing my ass in the corner, games is just getting weaker and weaker:manny:

The Last game that truly left me satisfied was Shenmue 2, so much shyt to do, had your own job, the fun, the fukkery.............

One main difference is that games then (8-bit, 16-bit) were pick-up-and-play, but now you have to go through tutorials and all of that. Easy to play but hard to master.

Now games are fairly easy with unlimited continues and being able to save at any point

I have fun with newer games but I rarely play through them more than once unlike older games mainly because now they are much longer.

I wonder if the death of the arcade has anything to do about this

one game that still has old school difficulty is dark souls... to where the bosses are actually intimidating and not so easy to beat.

As well I don't care about online gaming but these joke single player games that take like 6 hours to beat and they expect me to spend 59 on it?

Why I only buy sports games

most of yall really just sound like yall trash in gaming and shyt, lol i want cheat codes, i never even played wit them shyts in the ps1 or 2 days, im good, i rather stay where we are

Man shut yo ass up. Talking bout somebody being trash in gaming as if any games these days take real skill. I'm speaking from a time perspective, I'm busy and sometimes (key word) I just want some mindless action without worrying about puzzles or my life bar. I lost my save in Bayoneta and if I don't feel like relearning all the moves that's my choice.

Lots of games these days replace smart, challenging level design with repetitive tasks anyway.

I have a feeling Nintendo is about to bring it with the Wii U. Lots of innovative and creative stuff involving new IPs and old favorites.

I'm amped for the new Mario, Zelda, and Metroid...absolutely, but Nintendo better bring it with some unique titles too. Can't keep defending nintendo with that "it's the only place you can get Mario/Zelda" shyt.

If Metroid Prime 4 is announced......:ahh:

E3 is going to tell us a lot of things about what Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo are planning gaming wise.

I'm thinking about copping a used wii. They're only about 40 bucks now at some places and just playing some of these different games. I've never been a fan of nintendo's business practices, but I give them props for sticking to the script and not trying to make every game overly violent, realistic and 'mature'.
