Most of us on The Coli are between the ages of 21 and 40. We all remember where we were on 9/11. I was in 6th grade(I'm 26). The 2000's didn't culturally start till' after 9/11. 9/11 marked the very beginning of how America would view religion, culture, national security, etc. So many Americans were ignorant about Islam, and they all turned xenophobic overnight. I was just watching a Howard Stern archrival broadcast from 9/11 2001, BOY the word towel head was thrown around freely by callers. And Howard was basically gave the Kanye Shrug, because he felt Americans and New Yorkers specifically had a right to be a little racist. What the media never discusses are the amount of anti-Islamic attacks that occurred in the days after 9/11, some of them including murder. But those incidents were small potatoes because everybody was too pissed to garner any thread of sympathy for those Muslim Victims. That's the same apathy that helps people not care about a drone strike killing innocent people.
Sounded to me back then like nothin really changed from what we minorities were already used to.
wow aint you just the coolest person ever
fukk outta here

It's just one of those disasters that people remember like Katrina, a terrible event where thousands of people died. R.I P. to all the victims though
