How you do that?
Enchant items?
Its later in the game.
As you mine and gather resources you'll see more and more options open up for you at the creation table (or whatever its called).
Just keep gathering different things and create one of each thing.
Part of what makes the game fun is discovering what you can make. I could walk you through every single step of the game but if thats the case you should just jump straight into creation mode and skip survival all together.

I play by myself, also on Survival (PS4). Creative is cool for ppl that want to do whatever they want, whenever they want, but there's zero challenge. The game is very addicting. Everyone looks at it as a 'simple kid game', but there's so much stuff that you can do it's insane. It's really worth your time wandering through a Minecraft Wiki, as there's so much you can learn.

Lot of good info in here already, with how to get diamonds, get obsidian etcetera. Diamonds are one of, if not the most important things in the game. Diamond tools, weapons and armor are a must, and once you learn how to enchant, enchanting those things makes them even better. I just recently figured out how to repair my weapons with an anvil instead of going through and re-enchanting new tools/weapons/armor.

Enchanting is also necessary. You have to construct an enchanting table, and surround it with bookshelves in a certain design to get the most out of it. Visiting the Nether is only recommended once you know what the hell you're doing. You can die quick as hell there and lose all your stuff if you don't know how to get back there quick enough (when you die, if you get back to where you died quick enough, you can regain most of the stuff you were carrying. Unless you die in lava.).

And yeah, your map is your best friend. I ended up losing my first map (either from death or accidentally dropping it in lava (tip: throwing something in lava disappears it forever. Good to have a mini lava pit near your main base to get rid of shyt you don't want, but be careful)). I had to hunt down the materials to make a new one. Then what I do is have a note program and take down coordinates for important stuff (your base, where you're mining, villages, strongholds, etc). Also, like someone mentioned above, building a high tower with torches is a good way to mark your base for quick navigating.
