I'm guessing the mid to late 1800s she was born. How did she end up with your great grandfather?
Late 1800’s/early 1900’s.

She’s actually my step great grandmother. My great grandfathers first wife (my OG great grandmother) died early, and he remarried. They met in South Carolina, I don’t know how exactly. Apparently, there was quite a bit of mixing on my moms side of the family. I know, it probably has no real significance, but my mom and grandmother are pretty dark. I’m dark skinned. So, while there was some mixing on my moms side, there wasn’t much at all on my dads side. I’ve never seen anyone white with any of my relatives on that side, and looking at old pictures and hearing old stories, there is no tales that involved white people.

It’s funny, because when I took that ancestry test, my euro % was 12%. My mothers side probably contributes heavy to that

Not on the books, I have a lot of mixed people down my tree though. The oldest relative I know of is a free black man from the 1700’s.

Damn, this is crazy, I'm really interested in how he met her and married her.

If the mixing wasn't as frequent that is a strong 12 percent on your mom's side alone.

Nah, my pops side of the family was never slaves, that comes from moms side.

He was a wealthy landowner in NC that fell in love with a free black woman, had kids with her and left her a shytload of land that my family has to this day.

Wow, that's what's up. Glad that it's still in your family to this day.

Salute.

I learned quite a bit last weekend about my moms side. They have their own part of town in Lumberton, NC. It’s hood now, but people still call it by it’s original name. It’s my grandmothers last name, with “town” added on the end. We have a reunion in the low country SC this year that my bro and I will go to. I’ve got a ton of questions.

On my dads side, I know of the plantation owner that enslaved my grandmothers side. His name is George Hairston. They throw a huge ass reunion every year, where apparently, the black and white Hairston’s meet up. Never been to one of those, and I lowkey don’t wanna go.

23andMe.

I'm 8% European, 90% Sub-Saharan African and 1.8% Filipino for some reason
:dahell: the rest are trace amounts from Southeast Asia

23andMe also shows when your last ancestor of each race was. My last white ancestor was 6 generations ago.
Which state you are from? Might explain the Filipino ancestry if you're from the Western states.
