I learned quite a bit last weekend about my moms side. They have their own part of town in Lumberton, NC. It’s hood now, but people still call it by it’s original name. It’s my grandmothers last name, with “town” added on the end. We have a reunion in the low country SC this year that my bro and I will go to. I’ve got a ton of questions.

That's baller af. :ehh:

On my dads side, I know of the plantation owner that enslaved my grandmothers side. His name is George Hairston. They throw a huge ass reunion every year, where apparently, the black and white Hairston’s meet up. Never been to one of those, and I lowkey don’t wanna go.

Yeah you got c00ns on that side of the family.:francis:

No actually, we were fortunate that a lot of records were kept in Jamaica like birth certificates, marriage licenses and wills. One of my uncles was deep into the family history and he organized a lot of the info for us, unfortunately he passed before I ever met him.

He even had a family reunion in England with all of the mixed, black and white people of our family 5 years ago. I have the pictures and family tree.

And the original house coat of arms. It's a shame how some in our family will point to the white man as our reference for being leaders.
:dead::dead::dead::dead::dead::dead:

I started my search and I don't know why I felt the lineage started getting lighter...:hubie::hubie::hubie: I'm good

23andMe.

I'm 8% European, 90% Sub-Saharan African and 1.8% Filipino for some reason
:dahell: the rest are trace amounts from Southeast Asia

23andMe also shows when your last ancestor of each race was. My last white ancestor was 6 generations ago.
That might be malagasy ancestry, then again i remember reading that filipino people went to louisiana so if you have people from louisiana that explains it

no, and I am not trying to be arrogant or anything but as far back as my family can trace there isnt any white for the most part...except my paternal grandfather's father is very light and he couldve been half or part white but we dont know his exact origin or parents. everyone else we can trace. on my mother's side of the family we cant go back as far but as far as we can go, no white.

Yea, I’ve already acknowledged on here that those Hairston sellouts are probably related to me somewhere down the line :mjcry: They are a disgrace.

I was doing research on the Hairston’s, and while there are many spread out throughout the country, there’s a cluster of them in the Piedmont area of NC. That’s where I’m from, and pretty much every Hairston that I’ve met in NC is some kin to me. Former Charlotte Hornets player, PJ Hairston, is a cousin of mine. That’s my bougie side, as well lol. The white Hairston’s used to pronounce it Har-Stun, and till this day, that’s how some of my family pronounces it.
My family also has quite a bit of land passed down from that side of the fam, that I’m entitled to at some point.

There's a lot in play. Being conservative you'd have anywhere from
32 to 128 or more 3x. 4x. etc grandpatents. depending on the years you're going to include.

If anyone is stuck and needs something looked up on a pay site, i have access to most. Just pm me. Everything is private.

Most ADOS do unfortunately. Due to slave rape, your patrilineal lineage (your father’s side) most likely goes back to Europe and doesn’t go back to Africa for hundreds/thousands of years.
