Welp, I know what I'm watching tonight. Thanks Coli
My cousin sang it at my grandfather's. I was cool until then, then that shyt broke mewe played it and my grandfather's and my dad's funeral.
i agree, it's a classic. i love hip-hop, but this era of music-70's soul is probably my favorite.

Never heard of this. You talking about during his death or another incident?Sam was ahead of his time. Pretty was creating was P did with NL.
I didn't know his as THAT influential.
Maybe it was due to an attempt to preserve his image (cuz they didn't mention it), but I remember researching Sam in the early 2000's and they reported that Sam was beaten so badly, his head was damn near torned from his body.
Really good Doc.
Must see.

This is most likely the case. Breh was #2 behind Elvis in sales on his label.
He got control of his own shyt and cacs weren’t having it, as it set an example for other artists.
Cacs subsequently dirtied his name so other Black people would not revisit his model.
come on manThat was how Etta James described it.
Whoever killed Sam Cooke beat him pretty badly. The skin on his knuckles was also messed up. He fought for his life.
It was likely a group of men. Breh was probably drugged at the bar before being taken to that hotel.
Singer Etta James viewed Cooke's body before his funeral and questioned the accuracy of the official version of events. She wrote that the injuries she observed were well beyond the official account of Cooke having fought Franklin alone. James wrote that Cooke was so badly beaten that his head was nearly separated from his shoulders, his hands were broken and crushed, and his nose mangled.[58] Some people have speculated that Cooke's manager, Allen Klein, might have had a role in his death. Klein owned Tracey, Ltd, which ultimately owned all rights to Cooke's recordings.
They got into a tussle.
Franklin, though shorter than Sam, outweighed him by about 30 pounds. She told the police, “He fell on top of me … I tried to bite him through that jacket: biting, scratching and everything. Finally, I got up, when I kicked him … I run and grabbed the pistol off the TV, and I shot … at close range … three times.”
Two of the bullets missed. But the third entered his left side, passed through his left lung, his heart and his right lung. Sam fell back and in astonishment, said what would be his last words: “Lady, you shot me.”
Franklin claims that he got up again and ran at her. She hit him over the head with a broom handle. This time, he stayed down. When the police arrived, Sam Cooke was dead.
The Mysterious Death of Sam Cooke
Of course she didn't know she had shot him in the heart, but this is the story:
The bullet hit one lung and exited (leaving 2 holes), then entered his heart and exited (leaving 2 holes) and then entered his other lung and left at least 1 hole.
So, after 2 holes in his heart and at least 3 holes between 2 lungs, he not only spoke, but got up and tried to attack her again?
Im not an medical expert, but nah....
. Like, I’d never heard that version of Bring Home to Me live (been listening to that album since I saw the doc) that he did in Harlem Square. He was able to sing and put that raspiness in his voice whenever he wanted.
