I still shake my head at the fact that the US allowed Murdoch and his ilk to be elevated to the level of anything resembling actual journalism, as opposed to the tabloid dreck they've always been. Look at what he did to Australia on his come up, look at what he's done to Britain...the same thing people complain about now with every idiot on social media having their own bullhorn, that's what NewsCorp fed into with tabloid papers and television beforehand. In less than 25 years Fox has managed to turn over half of Americans into the worst mindless chav-level drones the UK has to offer. And there's a steep price for that being allowed.

If you elevate tabloid gossip and innuendo to the same level as news reporting, there's no way you'll have any claim to a democracy down the line. Working out real world issues demands information, not vanity projects masked as entertainment masked as news.
