Still living in the same apartment for over a decade. Rent has gone up about $140 from when I first moved in to now. Was $420 a decade ago now $560 a month.

We finally got app connected washing machines. No more going to the car wash coin machine to get quarters.
Damn bro you should of bought a house 9yrs ago…..

I own a condo and i help repair my parents house. Both are approximately the same age. Here is what needs to be fixed in a home in Houston:

1) roof replacement ($4-$6k)
2) foundation repair ($8-12k)
3) siding replacement ($4-$6k)
4) bathroom leaking from second to first story ($1-2k)
5) bathroom (1st floor) replacement due to leaks and damage ($10k)
6) kitchen stove ($4k)

Please when buying a home, research the builder and save ahead of time. The rule is save 5-10% of what your mortgage for capital expenses.

What people won't tell you is that things in your house can immediately break so having 5-10% of the value of your monthly mortgage should help

also research the private seller market for appliances, you can get new appliances for less that way. i had to get rid of the new stove my house came with because i wasn't going to be using gas energy. sold it for less than $500 on craigslist

The stove and oven are both built into the house.

Id advise against getting built in stoves and oven. Having 1 piece is cheaper and easier to fix. My condo has a an oven and stove appliance.

I love my apartment!
:blessed:
I live alone in a 1 bedroom with a balcony in a building with a pool and a gym and an elevator.
:blessed:
I love not having roommates!
:blessed:
Couldn't imagine this living in NYC.
