This is the next legitimate move for Apple if they want to be a contender and chip away at Spotify.. Tidal has done really well with their "exclusives" and this is the reason why Apple NEEDS Spotify. If Apple was able to offer exclusives from Jay, Kanye, Beyonce, Rihanna, Madonna, etc; this could be the push they need to turn the cards in their favor (from Spotify.)
Gotta applaud Jimmy Iovine for realizing this.

Apple's lucky Spotify is still thriving and growing despite Apple Music being around, otherwise U.S. government would likely reject this Tidal purchase out of potential monopoly problems.

How we know that isn't part of the negotiations? As a matter of fact, if thats what was laid out in the artists contracts with Tidal, then it would still have to stand.Apple would have to honor existing contracts.
