Again, the keyword is if. If we can convince black people to start working together we have a shot. Personally there's not enough of us who have the goal if pushing the importance of black business ownership. Even within the group I work with there's still the idea that black people working among ourselves is somehow racist.

Until we somehow come up with a way to get rid of that Stockholm syndrome, we'll stay stuck in the condition that we're in. Personally I'm going to stick to my own personal goal. Start and grow my business, hire black men and women, donate money to causes that benefit the my people, and work on attaining political power.

But not racist when EVERY OTHER race of people does it? This shyt infuriates me man, the Stockholm syndrome is real:snoop:

My mom.is lighter than me and wishes she had my skin tone.

I always side eye lighter skinned chicks when they say this. I'm not really speaking of your mom just lighter skinned women in general. I compare it to white people saying they wish they were Black. yeah right, as if they really are going to give up their white privilege as well as light skinned women to give up their status in the Black community. One time a friend of mine said something like this and I asked her "So if you woke up tomorrow morning with Michael Jordan's complexion instead of your Lisa Raye complexion you'd be jumping for joy eh?". The look on her face was priceless because she knew I saw through her patronizing BS.

Who are we do judge anyone's preference? Just cause it's not your thing. Get rid of them female tendencies and move on to the next.

I understand. I have checked some people about this myself. But not all light skinned is created equal.

Tell me about it breh. When I used to hear that black people loved white people, I didn't get it. Now that I'm older the shyt is as plain as day. If white people were to leave the US in mass, these negros would be right behind them.

Well I believe that when they say it from a strictly aesthetic POV. I love all shades of black but definitely prefer brown to dark brown shades and find it has more of an umph and attractiveness to it than lighter shades. The problem is they look at it strictly from the surface level of seeing darker skin as physically more attractive and don't take the time to also acknowledge the social ramifications of having said darker skin.

Yeah darker skin might be more alluring than lighter skin to you, but would you trade it for the privilege of living in a society where you're still seen as a n*gger but not as much of a n*gger as a darker tones to whites, and are you willing to deal with c00ns not finding you as attractive? I think not.

That's just my two cents but I try not to dig deep into complexion wars because I firmly believe regardless of complexion we are all beautiful and need to unite.

I assume this was directed towards me. I agree that a good percentage of Blacks especially women wouldn't trade in their light complexion for that of Whoopie or Lupita because they know how coveted it is among the typical Black man.

I'm saying despite wishing their skin was darker for aesthetic reasons they still wouldn't trade their light skin in due to the social status it gives them in society brainwashed by European views on beauty.

When I was young I used to wish I was a little darker. I grew out of that self hate, but even back then I knew my darker skin would make me a little more offensive to whites.

Doesn't make that huge a difference though. My mom's the complexion of Halle berry and I've seen her deal with racism multiple times. Cacs just don't like us.
