Just something that crossed my mind earlier. I know of the plight of many of our brothers and sisters and have lived and experienced some of it myself. But a trend or problem that I realize is that without fathers, are our youngsters out here being raised by their peers, television and snapchat (social media twitter, fb, IG etc)? While there are many households with a parent there, there are PLENTY more without them. The problem is only getting worse out here. I see kids commenting on Empire shyt on twitter, Periscoping from class (giving teachers a hard time), following the latest trends and being VERY knowlegeable of a lot of drama (love and hip hop, beefs, kardashians etc). With the single parent household already struggling (moms working, leaving kids at grandparents, friends house etc), who is raising these youngsters?

Not a new issue, not particular to single households. It'sjust a newer form of what's been going on for years.

I grew up with both parents, dad was never home, mom couldn't handle getting her degree, working, cooking, and raising two kids. She taught me two things, (1) don't move your hands like that, or people will think you're faggit (2) when someone hits you, hit them back. She psychically, emotionally, and psychologically abused me for years; neither of my parents taught me anything valuable about life. I have no degrees and spent years doing hard drugs. Two parent household, we were poor, but not in poverty.

It happens in all dysfunctional families (despite race or income), but I would assume it happens more in black communities because of slavery and refusal to break the cycle. It can be done, but we fear professional, social, or community help/assistance to stop certain lifestyle and way of living.
