i think its a combination of some or all of the following
1. men are generally more likely to "tough it out" "wait for it to blow over" "not show pain or weakness"
2. financial-cost aspectsl/access to quality healthcare/ access to good insurance
3. mistrust of doctors/ the medical field in general either as a result of current history or past history
4. lack of quality healthcare in your area or in your budget
5. blacks not being taken seriously by doctors, assumption that youre faking/ looking for medication
i think most of these apply for black men and women ofcourse
In my experience black doctors have always been the best. Non black doctors always seemed to rush me, and act like I don't know what I am talking about when speaking of an experience with my body. It is like they do not care and just give me something. So I do not go to non black doctors. I feel like I connect better with black doctors. I once had a white dermatologist and changed immediately. I am willing to drive an hour away to see a black dermatologist.
