I prefer cd's or vinyl because I like to have something tangible with the cover, credits, ect. I have a 2015 car, and it has cd drive. I was on the iTunes, mp3 bandwagon for a while, and realized I didn't like it as much. CD cost as much as a download, and you can just rip it anyway, so you might as well get something for that 10 to 12 bucks.

The only people that still play DVDs is senior citizens.

Blue Ray is almost a dead format already.

Skynet took over

Well I'm a sitcom enthusiast. I get complete series of alot of sitcoms, sketch comedy, etc etc

If you find complete series on another format, let me know :mjlol:

Iono bruh's im fairly old myself, and even I am finding myself hopping on this streaming/itunes wave.

The ease and access of digital music is too convenient in this day and age. All the artists Ive supported this year have been through itunes. Especially with this new trend of midnight and surprise drops, I dont have time to wait a whole day then go stand on a line to cop a physical.

New model cars and laptops dont even come with disc drives. I think its about time we all just embrace this new medium and go strictly digital for the future.

The highest selling rap album this year (IYRTITL) did a milli off itunes, shoot I would argue that going digital only actually helps sales in this ADD "click a link" culture the youth are currently engaged in.
i think the problem is that you posted this thread like this wasn't always the case for the past several years.

Its like having a thread like 'yo ion know dawg, I think that ps vita might be in the bushes in 2015...ion now man...its crazy ouchea'

why is your outrage so late? :rudy:

i dont pay for music- but i do illgeally download and burn to cd and dvd...why??

I like having a physical copy whether i buy it or download it-- all the streaming in the world cant help you when you're offline, or you hard drive gets erased somehow:yeshrug:

true you can have backups- but again i like having a physical copy. Like video games-- yea its cool to download games but when it comes time for trade in- physical copy can be resold on ebay/game credits, traded with friends, that game on your console is JUST THERE:ufdup:

I still like to collect my favorite artists. Still enjoy the nostalgia of the process from time to time.

I don't even listen to a lot of music, but I try to buy at least a few cds every year to support the artists. Most people don't give a fukk though, then cry about how the only shyt getting play is bullshyt pop music.

CD's are not dead but they are moving towards a niche market much like vinyl.
If we are talking about strictly a medium in which to transfer audio content then YES the compact disc is a dying platform.

However if liner notes and front/back cover art along with any added materials (remember the Outkast/ATLiens booklet?) come with the package then NO way CD's are dying out anytime soon.
If the entire package was constructed to be a piece of art (not just the music) there will always be value to the CD however it will never make up so much of the market ever again.

Vinyl is making a comeback but that is primarily because the process of vinyl making has become a lot cheaper and the audio quality/hi-fidelity of vinyl is superior to most other mediums.
Mastering for vinyl and mastering for CD are two different processes....

With cars no longer coming with CD players the assumption is you are going to rip your CD to an mp3 player anyways.
That was happening back when CD players (with the removable faceplate) were still in vehicles, dudes got tired of their window getting smashed for that cd booklet of all their original CD's so they started making CD-R's and leaving the original at home.
