Your on to something here. I think its just the fact "actor" ranks higher than comedian maybe? But then again I think if Will smacked Eddie Murphy,security would have at least rushed in to protect Eddie. I didnt see Chris get security,no 6'5 giant puttingba hand on Wills shoulder to keep him from doing that again. No commercial break,just left him out there for dead
I think Chappelle wouldve got the same treatment though. I think Eddie might really be the only comedian that supercedes the comedian tag.
I would argue that Tom Cruise is in a tier of his own with the closest ever coming to him is Will.

Yeah Eddie is only exception and that’s because of his move roles, Rock is bigger than Chapelle for the same reason.

I think it's different for us because we look at them through the lens of being important to us as black entertainers. But looking at it objectively, Chris Rock just isn't close to that level. Will Smith probably holds more headspace for people just for roles he's turned down than what he's actually done. The same just can't be said did Chris Rock, because he doesn't hold the same weight.

Oh I was speaking from a box office perspective as Tom Hanks has more of a critical darling in Hollywood rather than a box office draw compared to Will and Cruise.
