Are current rappers less smart than rappers of the past generations? Is that why the music is trash?

Mind you the post is about the individuals being dumb. Not just the music.
Okay. Let's pretend like we didn't have dumbass rappers in the 90s.

A lot of these acts play dumb for the masses because that's what sells in and out of music. Prime example: Latto isnt dumb, she's extremely articulate. but she plays a dumb ass-shaking broad well.

I don't think Ice spice is dumb either :yeshrug:

There have always been remedial nikkas in the rap game but there was always a sort of balance with a plethora of wordsmiths and orators at the top.

Kodak Black and NBA YoungBoy are two of the top rappers of their generation and both basically illiterate and on the spectrum.

One of the unfortunate consequences of the South dominating Hip Hop for the past 2 decades.

Nah. It's more of a work ethic and creativity issue.

There's no actual difference in intelligence. In fact, there's a number of cases in which "ignorant" sounding rappers have done well in school and conscious rappers have dropped out of school.
Key example being 2 Chainz (he did very in college and is very articulate in interviews) with the former and Nas with the latter.

Yeah. I thought that was obvious though :yeshrug:

I saw an interview with q-tip from like 1994 and was blown away by his insight. I don't know how old he was but im sure in his early 20s.

Go back and look at interviews with Nas, pac, members of the wu, even the "gangster rappers" like ice cube. All of them younger and more articulate, and just clearly more aware of things then this new batch of rappers
