Not true fam. We're not animals. Thats a cliche.

We have an elevated state of consciousness, and level of cognition that animals do not have (some animal species have been shown to have a consciousness but that would be charitably described as being on the level of a human infant or very small child).

With that consciousness we think, feel, understand, etc with our fellow man which controls primitive impulses. We may FEEL like killing someone, but we dont want to go to prison for the rest of our lives and deal with the guilt of taking a life.

So we basically conduct a cost/benefit analysis with almost every situation. Banging and screwing everything that walks may sound like a good idea in theory, but in practice it isnt that simple. To not commit you have to deal with a host of issues: (exposure to crazy girls, lack of love, std's, expending lots of money and effort, dry spells, potentially being old and alone, etc), while there are benefits to a monogamous relationship: (love, unprotected sex all the time, children, stability, economic bolstering, companionship, etc).

We're not going against our biological nature by creating an orderly society --- we're protecting it. Thats how we've evolved and grown as a species.

All of those are social concepts we've placed ourselves. Look how people act. just like animals. Territorial. Always trying to attract a mate. Fight for that attention. Will kill. Easily.
Explain to me how having one mate is natural. The whole purpose for being on earth is to reproduce. The male as much as possible and the female a limited number since she has a limited number of eggs and has to carry a baby in her womb.

Nah, Marriage is just a tax scam, and solid way for gold diggers to claim half of your shyt.

Although not everyone is that way, and one person can deeply love another, because there are couples that die 24 hours after the other dies.

In the end, its all about following your heart and stuff.

Probably not, but I think realistically that's what every man wants. A family he can be proud of. A wife he can be proud of.

hell no what type of dumb ass question is that? :bhop12:
The kind of dumb question that answers the original question. You expect a woman to be loyal to you but you can't be loyal to her... some of ya'll really think ya'll are slick like broads are going to buy that 'biology' game . You out here smashing hoes, and these women are doing the same thing with a bunch of dudes and everyone wants to complain how nobody is loyal these days but they don't want to commit to loyalty themselves.

There are other species that mate for life, if they can do it you sure as hell can.:usure:

I remember reading its for survival and helping protect offspring.
A human baby doesn't really develop that fast so I can see how its beneficial. :manny:

We've invented and enshrined social concepts, networks, and institutions because we are social beings as a constitution of our biology, and being social is literally the lifeblood of our existence. Most animal and insect species exist autonomously, and dont have meaningful contact with others. Could you imagine never talking or kicking it with another human being for the rest of your life? You'd go mad.

And we dont kill easily...out of 300+ million people there are roughly 10k homicides per year, and that comes with a lot of human-to-human contact, and when people die we have ceremonies, and often the people who are left behind are never the same. We think and feel too deeply.

Our consciousness and the human mind is almost beyond our comprehension because its so complex. So to answer your question. Yes, monogamy is natural, and yes not being monogamous is natural, because our mind sets our personal interest and what is natural and preferable to our own individual self, mentally, spiritually, biologically as humans. We're not controlled by a primitive instinct.

Ask yourself, is reproducing your whole purpose? Is that what you wake up with as a day-to-day goal? Not just having sex (and even with that you make a mental distinction between who is pleasurable to bang and who isnt), but having a baby? Cmon, son. Im trying to keep this convo practical rather than existential, but the complexity of the human mind is the answer, and we are not "animals".

Its friday night, time to get liqued.

Eh, it's a social agreement, I guess...to be monogamous.

But a lot of coli members act like inherent desires can be turned off just because society frowns upon them.
