idk about benz, but I would suppose it's the same deal. those cars (audi, bmw) turn into money pits as soon as they run out of warranty, to be honest most people that buy them brand new still frequent the dealership for service, these cars require madd attention, and if u can take care of it to the fullest and have the money to do so, then by all means do it.

yeah it's a pain in the ass when u have to fix something but them same cars are the best handling/performing cars on the road when they do work. old or new. good luck on ur decision breh.

I get what your saying though my dude. If he can find one in good condition I say go for it honestly, if driving is your passion you will enjoy it.

used bmws are the best luxury cars to buy used. As long is you know where to get parts and you do some of the work yourself.there are tins of places to get parts online. The auto transmissions suck on the 5/7 series other than that you can put lots of miles. If you get a manual you are good to go.I've owned e30,e34,e28,e21,e39 all great cars.

PS no one goes to the dealer for an out of warranty car.

The oldest one i've owned was a 03 745 and that thing was an electrical nightmare, but when it didnt have problems it was smooth as fukk. Look for one of those old 8-series man, they still look nice today.

I had a e30 325is awesome little car never had a problem with it, good looking, easy to fix and fun to drive.
I had one in high school chicks loved it. a couple buddies have one right now and they're gutted, another has I'm thinking an e34 535/545 and it looks really sharp. They don't have a lot to go wrong with them so they are solid buys. Another buddy has a e39 m5 but I don't suggest that. Maybe a 540i 97-04 wouldn't be a bad buy though. Just look into the costs typical issues on bimmerforums or somewhere.

I think a 5'er would be reliable the e39's. The e60's I would avoid lots of electronics and harder to work on yourself.

I think 3 series e46-e90 are supposed to be relatively reliable.
Save the E46 M3 and E90 335's but long as you have money for maintenance it's not that bad.

It all depends on keeping up with maintenance and how previous owners treated them.

They are pretty reliable and if you can work on cars yourself it maintenance will practically be free. You can also order parts from Tischer BMW in MD for 1/4 of the price the dealer charges.

I have been an active member on this forum since 2006, BMW are great cars, I personally feel you need a warranty on them since parts are expensive. If you are getting a e30, you are going to have to put work into the car since its a 20 year old car. At the end of the day not matter what car company you go with, there will be electrical problems problems all over. Parts get worn down and eventually you will have to replace most parts so it gets very expensive...If you have any specific questions I can definitely assist you when it comes to bimmers..
