Are people asking for too much now? I'm sorry but a $15 minimum wage is still too low...

:hhh: Increase minimum wage. If the lowest of workers can't survive, it will be fair time until all shyt crumbles. You can not have a society where college education UNFREE is paramount to having a liveable wage. You definitely can't have a good one with all this debt that can't be paid off on these low ass wages.

People are talking about automation. Automation is already here, but it's more expensive than illegal labor.

Nobody wants to address this. People Who thinking about $$$ over quality of work is how everything falls apart. Even down to music.

You've yet to answer how small businesses are gonna be able to afford this minimum wage increase and compete against big businesses who are going to automate a lot of these same positions.

The owner gets paid LESS than what they get now. Its that simple, cause quality cannot last under shortcuts of undermining your workers.

:gucci: Corporate greed has won.
It’s not about corporate greed at this point it’s about automation. A higher minimum wage won’t mean anything when they replace you with a kiosk or robot. The only reason they haven’t done it is because humans are cheaper at this point.

Automation was coming anyway. UBI needs to offset the loss of income for folks
I think so to but their hand will have to be forced. They won’t even give people a much needed stimulus check in the middle of a pandemic. There will have to be major, and I mean major civil unrest. I mean nationwide riots. Crime and homelessness will skyrocket.

There's 400 million people in America. What you just said is a pipe dream breh.

It's not really a pipe dream though. We've just been fed a steady diet of trickle down economics nonsense, union busting and anti-laborer propaganda. If more people engaged in collective bargaining (or even knew how) a lot of shyt would change real quick.

People keep screaming about how low wage earners should just shut up and take it or some other "bootstraps" bullshyt when the truth is, we literally do not have to live like this. Folks in this very thread are against an increased minimum wage because "XYZ career field requiring a degree doesn't even pay that much!!1!1!" without a shred of irony. Not even realizing that their actual argument should be "People with degrees don't even make that much and that's a problem".

And of course someone will try to bring up the automation boogeyman but if half the population is replaced by machines and therefore becomes unemployed, who the fukk is going to buy up all that automated bullshyt?

Small businesses are gonna die. These businesses barely tread water and certainly aren't millionaires.

Amazon already killing the game. They're working to automate their warehouses even more. Malls are dying and will be exacerbated with higher minimum wage. Boutique shops dead. Mom and pop food spots dead.

What your advocating will give the big businesses more power in the long run by killing every single small business out there:mjlol:

It's like you dudes can't help yourself, run on emotion and not logic:russ:

It's that simple?:snoop:

People are still going to consume goods just like during the pandemic. Its ironic because places like McDonald’s will displace the most jobs with automation but they will always be in business because they’re the cheapest places to consume goods. The next decades will be about survival. There will be no middle class or lower class. It will really be rich and poor.

Being a cashier at a supermarket is supposed to be a job for teenagers to get experience and for the mentally handicapped incapable of learning advanced skills. It's not supposed to be a career.:mjlol:

Technology already killed a lot of small businesses, you just want to bury and kill them all:russ:

Most supermarkets are open at least 12 hours a day. Teens have to be in school for a huge chunk of those hours. Mentally handicapped are almost never on registers because that's where the money is. What universe do you people come from? :what:

Can't forget the professional politicians. :beli:

Its like you gotta make history in your field for a basic LIVING WAGE. TLR went off the deep end. Should have saw it back in 2016 and the "Trumpset" era.

Automation is not here. What you’re seeing is just a drop in the bucket. We are in the beginning stages of a economic depression never seen before. Malls and department stores are closing, homelessness is out of control, rents are skyrocketing, people will become more and more desperate. Millions of people are making ends meet via Uber and food delivery services and they’re investing in self driving cars as we speak. What little jobs that are left we will be competing with immigrants for. And they’re willing to work for $10/hr
