In poetic fashion, J.R singlehandedly destroyed his chance at an extremely big paid day and starting position.

Sad really, considering if he makes up his mind to have a versatile game by driving to the basket(as we all know he can) he'd be a primier player.

This is what I don't get, does he just not want to attack the basket:mindblown:

Or is there some good basketball reason why he doesn't half the time?

:what: there's a reason why he comes off the bench... even for your team.

Him banging Rihanna at least gives an explanation for why he sucks so much right now

You turned into a hater tre :aicmon: what's wrong with you ? Are you saying jr couldn't score 20 + ppg? He attacks the basket and he can score with anyone .And damn he sucks for 5 games ? :skip: let's bench him . You guys are more reactionary than espn the guy just won 6th man of the year award , and alot of team can use a scorer like him Starting

There are no justifiable reasons why J.R Smith is not attacking the basket.

I've said on numerous occasions... It was because of penetration why he sealed the deal on "6MOY" award.

The fact that after the J.Terry elbow he reverted back to the streaky, poor decision making, J.R is mindboggling...

Corey Maggette can score 20ppg. It's all a matter how consistent he can be and how efficient he can be. As a starter, he's neither.

the guy just won 6th man of the year award

Which means he's an excellent BENCH player. That doesn't mean he'll turn into a just as good starter. JR knows that. The Knicks know that. Do you know something that neither of them do?

Oh but Brandon Jennings and monta Ellis deserve all that money huh :rudy: i like the Knicks but look around the damn league there are a shortage of guys like jr , people overpay for needs all the time and take chances. Did most people think Asik would be that good as a starter ? Or vukevic?:rudy: you guys are acting like the nba is full of wise sage gms who don't make bad decisions . It's all about a teams need and a team might want to make a splash by signing a guy like jr.

People said the same thing about Asik harden etc .. You don't know what jr will do as a starter. There are starters in the nba who are wayyyyy worse than jr someone could over pay him , I never said 10 mil but more than 5 mil

Point me to whoever said that. Not sure what they have to do with this (and Jennings is a PG)

There are PLENTY of players like that on benches. JR, Kevin Martin, Nate, Barea, Lou Williams, Terry, the patron saint of JR Smith himself, Jamal Crawford. If the argument is whether he could score 20 a night, probably. If the argument is whether someone may overpay for him, probably. If the argument is whether teams view JR Smith as a starter, they don't, not if they aspire to be good.
Did most people think Asik would be that good as a starter ? Or vukevic?:

This is Omer Asik's 3rd year after a career overseas as a highly touted prospect. Ask any Bulls fan here about the debates had regarding Asik vs. Pekovic. Vucevic is in year 2 of his career as a developing big. JR Smith is NINE years deep into his career. He is what he is, and damn near every team will view JR the same way they view Jamal Crawford: a very good 6th man. Nothing wrong with that, but like Jamal, he doesn't fit as well as a starter.

JR's getting his dough but it won't be from the Knicks. Knicks can only offer 4/24m and there are gonna be teams willing to pay 7-10 per, especially teams that are now gonna have to meet the min floor salary requirements. I think the only good team with cap space is gonna be San Antonio and I'm doubting they'd be willing to waste a huge chunk on JR. The only other option the Knicks have is to offer his 5-6m for next season then have his full bird rights for the following season and overpay him then. It falls on JR in any case.

As for why JR's not driving to the bucket...1. dude is just slow to figure shyt out even with a coach screaming the shyt at him and 2. Pacers are bogging down the paint, I think they were the best defensive team in the L this season. 3. dude is just reeeeaallly slow at making adjustments

JR can definitely get more than the Knicks can offer.

It will come down to whether he think playing for the Knicks is worth more.

It very well may not be.

JR Smith is probably the dumbest player in the league. Signing him long term is a potential disaster

Jennings's is a pg who sucks at his job and shoots horrible . Crawford was a starter before :upsetfavre: and if he was younger he'd start. Whatever you think about jrs intelligence he plays starter minutes rebounds and can score . He's a bench player technically but he plays starter minutes a team would start him idk why your acting like he's a bum . He hasn't only been bad this postseason he could rebound you know

People are really acting like they won't pay jr based off the last few games . Same way melo is trash everytime we lose .
