In your opinion it sounds like the only right reason is fairy tale love but there's more reasons then that.

It skews the number of mates out there and people who can't compete will suffer even more.

And you don't have to be dating millionaires either.

"Work wives" and "Work husbands" might really become ACTUAL wives and husbands...and those are just charismatic co-workers, not the CEOs themselves.

The average dude making 150K a year might hurt dudes making 75K a year. And it just trickles down.

If even 1/5th of the population takes ONE extra person, you've removed a massive number of mates from the dating pool.

And its not to say those extra mates won't "date" outside of that legal union/marriage, but they could never commit to people outside of their marriage, and thus anger even more people.

Lets define what date and dating pool means though.

Because right now you have a tiny number of men who are "dating" tons of women at the same time AND These same women are "talking" talkinng to other people on the side.

Dating also isnt marriage. Marriage is legally binding business agreements that come with benefits.

So speaking for heteosexuals, arent there more women then men that are of the age we would consider one to be to date/marry?

Marriage in the west isnt some one to one thing where everyone is paired to someone by nature. Because even now you have men and women who will die single because nobody wants them.

The first sentence is desire. The second sentence is logic. They are not the same and cannot be argued on equal grounds. I do think both parties should consent in a polygamist arrangement.
