I bought a Carbon 15 when I was 18
In light of the recent changes in my life, it has caused me to reflect on the past. i made so many mistakes...:snoop: i always seem to make it to the fork in the road and go in the wrong direction. at 35 years old, i'm not happy with where i am. i got :flabbynsick:, i let my marriage fall apart (when i probably could have done something to fix it a long time ago), my finances have suffered for a long time (although my money is looking a lot better nowadays), etc.

With all that said, i hired a personal trainer and got back in the gym (already 4lbs. down), i have finally acceped the fact that this marriage is not going to work for either of us and hurled all thoughts of a possible reconciliation into the bushes, and i have started making smarter and more calculated decisions when it comes to my finance. i'm a lot less wasteful and am very concious of what i'm spending my money on. it's only a few steps so far, but they are finally in the right direction. the next 2 years will be spent rebuilding myself. i liked being married, but when it ends it tears everything in your life apart before it's finally done. it's like a tornado. i'll probably never do it again.

i'm rambling....:heh: i just need to vent
Have you stopped beating your wife yet?

I currently am but I'm not complacent. In one area or another its always a goal for me to attain and keep me motivated.

Sometimes I feel like being in my phd program is a waste of time. I don't want to sit in an ivory town and pat myself on the back because other academics enjoy reading my research. I hear the saying all the time "you are a sociologist, not a social worker." As much as I like research, I also enjoy working with people more. I'm not sure about what I want to do.

College grad went and found my first real job..paying off school loans, went and bought a BMW as a :salute: to myself. Haven't found the right girl yet but I'm in no rush. Kinda wish i would've purchased a home by now but I don't even know where i want to live permanently yet so that'll have to wait... There's a lot of work still to be done but I'm making progress so yeah I'm happy where I am

Some days I wake up and cruise to work and think about the many times things could've went in ANY direction other than my current situation and I honestly feel blessed.

Appreciation of the current is just as important as progress

Nope. But my unfilled goals is what keeps me going. Even when I accomplish those set of goals, I'm strive to always find a goal or dream to chase.
