Alot of artists are realizing that them record contracts and streaming deals is kicking out pennies. It wasn't so bad when you could just go out and do a bunch of tours and festivals, but it aint like that no more.

Signing to a major will never benefit you, she's gonna be trapped on there for a while. Look at the people who were signed to the same label as her and complained about getting off to be a "free'' artist.

Signing to a major does benefit you but it has to be a strategic move, I feel. It's an easy way to be known and get exposure, and if you really like that you gonna get hit after hit, it's a good spark plug.

I think ideally you get in and get out of a major like Tory did. Just try not to get cancelled and blackballed on the way out tho.

It totally worked for Meg, I can see many artists especially signed to small Black owned labels doing this.

Meg's getting money now, If she was that mad she could buy herself out of her deal completely with 5150 and be done with it.

The difference with Meg is that she was signed to a TRULY fukked up label deal and the CEO lied and said she had a bunch of favorable shyt in her contract like owning her Masters.


Then Meg leaked the contract, providing receipts that it was indeed just as fukked up AND exploitive as she claimed, which gave her leverage in the court of public opinion.


Ari hasn’t (yet) claimed that her deal is fukked up or unfavorable; she just seems frustrated and emotional. Which given how the past couple of months have gone for her I can understand. She got shyt on for doing nothing more than being appreciative of her trip to Africa and THEN had to sit through some creepy interview. Seems like she’s just having a rough month
