As I figured, absolute bullshyt. Just priced this recipe out from smiths (Kroger) and it’s 43 dollars, and that’s with you ending up with extra half pound of each of the beef and sausage. A whole 3.50 per serving, with extra proteins

Always with the hyperbole. If you actually cook, meal plan, and shop accordingly you can get by just fine. If somehow you spent 200 bucks on lasagna shyt and water, that’s a you problem
Why would I need to lie…I shop at Berkeley bowl, it’s not cheap. I just gave you the prices.

I just spent $200 on what I thought should have been a week’s worth of groceries and the shopping cart might as well have been an accessory like how these chicks walk around with them big ass handbags just for their ID and car keys.

How are people surviving out here with these prices :wtf: I swear it wasn’t this bad about a month ago.. everything is half the size and twice the price.. it’s just straight up robbery.

I still feel violated.. I might have file a police report and press charges against Walmart at this point.
Better take your ass to Aldi and stop playing

2 containers of burrata - $12 apiece
2 containers of ricotta - $8 apiece
parmesan reggiano - $8
mozzarella - $7
1 lb ground turkey - $8
1lb turkery Italian sausage - $11
fresh lasagna sheets - $18
thats $92 right there

plus had to buy crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, mushroom, spinach, onion, garlic, parsley, basil, some items to make salad

I easily hit $130 for the lasagna

bought a pie for dessert, whipping cream, yogurt, sparkling water and eggs and that’s where I got to $200

like I said, I wasn’t using cheap shyt, clearly I could’ve made the average American lasagna with hard packaged noodles, jarred sauce, low quality turkey, and cheap cheese and come out around $50-60
Again, absolute horseshyt. Cento tomatoes are 3 bucks a can. Garlic is 50 cents. Who we kidding here

So why would you shop there?
1) I should say general grocery isn’t cheap, the produce is the widest selection, high quality and more affordable than regular stores, they also have high quality meat and seafood, that’s the store I usually get those items from, when I’m in a rush I’ll get everything there
2) I like high quality food
3) I’m not broke and can afford to shop there
4) the prices have increased which is what the thread is about, that same dish cost me ~$70-80 3 years ago

You’re in here mad at everyone else because you spent 130 bucks to cook a turkey lasagna :dead: it ain’t no one’s fault but yours it costs that much
Is the thread not about prices increasing? I know what I used to pay at that same store, the prices went up…like you’re really trying your hardest to find something to argue here and you’re failing. Shut the fukk up

I get the gist of it, and I’ll move on from talking about you specifically….

But it seems too many people want to maintain a lifestyle they can’t afford. And expect god to come down and save them. If you couldn’t afford Whole Foods, but you had Walmart… then when Walmart costs as much as Whole Foods, you might want to downgrade to Food Lion.

Again, not you cause you can afford it. But people complain about shyt like it’s going to change. It’s not. Price of the brick going up. Adjust and adapt. I like $500 a night dinners too. But when they cost $1500 and it’s the same food, I’ll find out who got $500 dinners. Not upgrade AND complain.

And it seems women do this a lot. Women do not like downgrading a damn thing

Falls pretty flat when folks sweating out egg and bread prices and someone comes in whining about 11 dollar a lb turkey sausage and 20 dollar fresh lasagne noodles from one of the most expensive grocery stores in the country :heh:

Ground turkey at Trader Joe’s went from 2.79 to 3.99 and they used to be one of the BEST affordable places to shop. I guess it still beats 5.99 anywhere else :francis:
I just got ground Turkey delivered from Walmart yesterday for $3.89 so I wouldn’t say “anywhere” else. And I’m sure I can find it cheaper if I shop around
