If you remember Halo was supposed to end with 3 / Reach. It didn't.
The last 6 years there has been a Forza title released every single year and 7 of the last 8 years have had one. The last 7 years there has been a Halo title released 6 of them. Gears titles are also released about every other year. The Gears series like Halo was supposed to end with the third game it didn't.
If Naughty Dog went up to Sony today and said Uncharted should be finished it likely would be. Bungie wanted to end Halo and Microsoft wouldn't. Epic wanted to end Gears and Microsoft wouldn't.

Come on breh , between xbox and sony ...you know sony is the one that introduces the most new franchises. They already close the lid on Uncharted , i would love to see Microsoft do that with halo or any other of the franchises they milk. We got horizon which is a new franchise, bloodborne another new franchise , they invented God of War again , Days Gone is another new franchise , Spider-man and many others.
They don't force studios into franchise machines. They simply move the franchise to a different studio when the original one gets sick of making them.
